Premiere cruise festivities for the new Birka Gotland

Four years have passed since the cruise ship Birka - previously called Birka Stockholm - stopped her traffic on the Baltic Sea and she has been greatly missed by many.

Now the ship is back under new management and has been named Birka Gotland. Appropriate as she is half owned by Gotlandsbolaget and half by Viking Line, and will be going to and leaving from the Swedish island Gotland among other ports.

The premiere tour departed on 20 March 2024 and SeaFun was invited to attend. The red carpet was rolled out in the terminal at Stadsgården in Stockholm, and on board were both regular and specially invited guests.

The evening was filled with mingling, toasting, good food and partying. The CEOs of both owner cruise lines were present and singer Elisa Lindström entertained on stage, in a pink glittery dress.

Thanks for a nice video, I travelled with this ship years ago and although it was nice, it seemed really boring and dull. Looks like Viking Line have worked magic on her. X

Är nog exakt 4 år sen sist bra val att behålla namnet Birka .Ja det är 2 rederier som har henne nu .Nu som då är det Åland som håller i alla trådar .Hoppas många tar en skön avkoppling med Birka Gotland.Statsbilden i Stockholm är nu som det ska 🎉
