The small Cross Over from Volvo is the first car built on a fully electric platform. It's about time! but how good is it?

This is the best review of the EX30 online bar none. Congratulations. I will rewatch it before the test drive.

Ordered mine in the UK last Nov. Just got a call from the dealer that it's to be delivered in 8 days from today. Twin Motor Ultra. Can't wait to blast off from stops. Thanks for the review.

Hi from Australia, 10 out of 10 for both the review and the car. I should have my Moss Yellow SMER in about a month, can't wait.

Love it ❤! Small, electric, simple, great for the excessive polution in Mexico city 😊

Your outfit is getting more and more stylish and the vehicles more and more beautiful. ;-) Volvo and Polestar have managed to create a wonderful and aesthetically pleasing synthesis between the combustion look and the new design of electric verhicles. i Like their design line. The only annoying thing is the plastic buttons on the steering wheel.

Its a smart looking car.. really like it. I just hope Volvo can make all its cars value for money like this..

The LFP chemestry should be charged to 100% for BMS reasons, its still recommended to go only to 80% for longevity.

One of the electric car review channels that gives me the most confidence. Congratulations and thank you for your work! 👏
In my humble opinion, as a customer looking to buy an electric car, this EX30 is overvalued "only" because it has the Volvo badge.

I would like you to compare it with the Smart #3, as they are in the same compact crossover SUV category, both based on the Geely Group's Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform and with approximate prices.

Smart #3 has an interior that seems more careful/premium, more space in the back seats, better aerodynamics and you don't need to go to the most expensive option to have HUD, heat pump, 360º camera, etc... and it has OTA
I don't particularly like the animation in the infotainment but nothing is perfect...

I read that Smart is not sold in the US. Is that why it doesn't appear in most of the comparisons that are made?
🙌

I'm glad you said it feels premium and has Volvo DNA because I get tired of people saying it is Chinese and doesn't feel like a Volvo (it's Chinese constructed, but designed in Sweden by teams at Volvo Sweden). Everything about this car in terms of its design is Volvo. Yes, the tablet thing is in Tesla but it is still something that makes sense in a Volvo. The Zeekr X is more luxo minded, and bigger, but this is more Volvo minded in its approach. The price as tested isn't the "bargain" the base model is. Nice review.

On Volvo Canada's website, they don't even confirm which models have LFP batteries. That would be like not telling you the volume and number of cylinders on your ICE car's motor. The car might be good but the marketers and salespeople still don't get it.

I’m definitely going to get myself one once we get some in the USA! I work at McGrath Volvo in Barrington, and can’t wait to test drive the twin motor!!!

I just wish it had more range 475km WLTP means around 350km highway range (120km/h). The new ID.3 GTX has 600km range. That’s roughly equivalent 450km highway range. That 100km difference makes quite a big difference for convenience.

All lithium ion batteries can be charged to 100%, but it accelerates degradation if it stays at 100%. Unlike NCA/NCM, LFP must be charged full frequently to avoid misreading SoC/range and associated problems such as cell imbalance. Most EV OEMs recommend 100% charging because they view it as a reasonable trade-off -- it potentially hurts range and durability, but comes at a lower cost.

I’ve just ordered one, my first ev and I’m as excited as I am nervous as I live in rural Wales, UK, famously terrible charge network, however home charger fitted so hopefully my ev journey is a good one. Great review and as I never have rear seat passengers I am happy with the size!

I take delivery of an ex30 plus hopefully in the next week or so here in the U.K. one thing to note is there is a fairly major software update due which is why I can’t have the vehicle immediately

I am reposting this comment because I posted it mistakenly under your Ioniq 5 review.

I enjoyed this review. It was thorough and fair. I think that the EX30 does have rear speakers in the doors, though.

Hi, had a test drive in the EX30 last week and loved it so much I ordered The Ultra Twin Motor version. I only found one thing that I disliked and I disliked it A LOT !!! The harman Kardon badge on the soundbar is permanently reflected in the windscreen. It is jut so annoying.

Every reviewer says suspension on the soft side.. Its a first hearing that from you. Well my local dealership has it for test. I will find out myself also. Thanks for all the feedback . Appreciated

I hate that manufacturers are forgetting that cars vibrate when moving and we need buttons, for safety and accuracy, is not safe to go in and out of menus to adjust the temperature, is easier and faster to do that in a button. That minimalistic approach is cumbersome and can cause problems

One of the best EX30 reviews on YouTube.

Im considering a single motor Ultra trim. I currently have a Peugeot E308. Would you consider EX30 an upgrade over my E308? Thanks.
