If you were driving down 5 Mile Road in Livonia Thursday, you might have seen cash blowing in the wind. The $1,800 belonged to a Livonia Girl Scout who left her cookie sales money on top of her mom’s car.

Her mom should get a badge for what she hopefully learned after this.

My 2 daughters are also in Girl Scouts and we as well lost about $240 my daughter had lost her orange envelope. I ended up putting in the 240 from my own pocket. Not being in a good place financially single mom 4 kids I was crying for days. 1800 is a lot I definitely learned my lesson in letting my daughter be in charge of the cash flow..

OMG! That poor girl! They must've been so upset after realizing what happened.

Glad to see some really good people helping them ❤

It should be part of the Driver's License Exam to NEVER put anything on the roof of your vehicle.

Maybe that's why we don't allow a 9-year-old to handle $1, 800 in cash unattended? It's terrible that this happened but definitely oversight on Mom's part😢

It’s a shame what happened, but the young lady should have placed the money safely in the car.

She lost her money, but learned a valuable lesson

My heart goes out to them. They learned a hard lesson. I don't understand why they would have had that much money in a can at a cookie sale. At five dollars a box that is enough for 30 cases of cookies. I would worry about getting robbed if I had that much cash at a cookie sale.

Great job letting the kid manage that much cash by herself, lol.

A tough lesson about using proper care with valuables. Learned that lesson the hard way too.

Some lessons in life are expensive but you will remember this the rest of your life.

Wow Girl Scout Corp is cashing in. They should pay the kids. Last I knew they still have to pay to go camping regardless how many cookies they sell.

Decades ago when my daughter was in the Girl Scouts, I was a co-leader but declined to handle the funds. The troop did an excellent job selling those cookies and raised a lot money. Unfortunately the military officer’s wife who co-lead with me, put that cash into her own account. As far as I know, she didn’t ever have to face any negative consequences from that incident.

The best lessons learned are sometimes the hardest. I have learned more in this life from my failures than my successes.

I buy girl scoot cookies all the time, but I always handle the money transaction with the parents. It’s always good to have the parents involved in cases like these.

The female customer waited for the camera to be rolling for her to hand over the $100 bill.

There's such a small amount of honest people in the world today! Hope all the others that know about this story and did not return the money karma gets them quickly..

As a cookie mom, I tell my parents when there boothing, the money is the first thing that gets put into the car when finished. If a case Of cookies gets left behind troop and or family will have to cover that cost. Also mom needs to know a 9 yr old should never be allowed to handle that much money. To many things can and will go wrong. Tough lesson to learn.

I really hope that everyone who found that money gives it back.

lol "The best of us" don't leave $1800 dollars sitting on top of our cars and then drive off. That's what the dumbest of us do.
