Hotels should be ashamed for charging resort fees, biggest rip off ever

I have been coming to Vegas for the last 30 years from 1 to 6 times a year. I learned to avoid the strip, too much "holier than thou" attitude from the hotels to some of the patrons. But since experiencing Fremont St. I love it! Friendlier casinos, friendlier gamblers. I appreciate you giving these updates, they will help me decide when to return. Thanks!

Las Vegas tourists don't want to be reminded of COVID-19 which in the end is going to scare off visitors and or they won't spend as much while they are here. Any casino COVID-19 mitigation should be done behind the scenes, which means NO masks or gloves are seen by the tourists except for the hotel maids wearing them. How is it going to look to see hostesses bring you drinks with a short skirt, mask and gloves on??? Vegas has always been a place to escape too for adult fun. As soon as you impose a bunch of restrictions you'll take that fun away - Let Vegas be Vegas !

i can't see people waiting outside when the temp is 120

I'll return to Vegas once masks aren't necessary, temperature checks aren't necessary, and we don't have to wait in line in the hot sun to get in the door. Hotels that open soon are going to find out there isn't much of a demand to put up with these things and occupancy rates will be low.

I'm not waiting outside, I'm not coming to Vegas if people are wearing masks. I like the idea of a cleaner Vegas. I have never paid parking or resort fees or even for a room, I gamble, so I just hope the prices are high enough to keep it less crowded. They should just add the resort fee to room charge, and bill accordingly. I want the old gambling experience of the 80's and 90's. End 6-5 blackjack, loosen up the slots, No triple/double greens on roulette wheels, 12 paying 3-1 of the craps table field bets. More friendly and talkative dealers, Yes. And Pit bosses that actually watch their games and smile. And hire some more drink women to come around. I want Vegas to return to normal.

The slower pace of everything has definitely been a guilty pleasure that I've enjoyed during all of this. Shame it took a pandemic to get us to this point to force everything to slow down to a realistic, sustainable pace.

I will not be returning to Vegas wearing a mask and waiting outside in 110 degree weather! I go on vacation to destress not to stress out!!

A contrarian point of view on some of the key points.
1. Of course the casinos will be cleaner, when they reopen. However, this increased level of service will translate into higher labor cost, and will ultimately be passed onto the guest in some form.

2. I do not see the amazing deals in the cards, at least when Las Vegas reopens initially. You will more likely see great deals 3-6 months out. The reduced capacity will mean the casinos will not have to offer amazing deals in the short term. Amazing deals would encourage the average, causal guest to book a trip to Las Vegas. In an effort to maximize the potential profit from each guest, the casinos will market to the high end guest. The casinos will not focus on head count; but rather, quality and profitable guest. The high guest is less concerned with an amazing deal, and more concerned with RFB comps.

3. Resorts fees are not going away, there are already factored in to the casino's bottom line. Remember a waiver of the resort fee is positive reinforcement for guest to gamble. Guest who gamble don't pay resort fees, anyway. Granted a casino may "suspend" the resort fee as a marketing promotion, but then simply increase the rack rate of the room. So the guest thinks he is getting a deal, but is paying the same for the room. A gambler (with no RF comp) could actually end up paying more for the room wit the so-called resort fee suspension.

4. Again, with the reduced capacity, and an emphasis on the high end, profitable guest (quality over quantity) it simply makes no business sense for the casinos to offer more free attractions at this juncture. Casinos will be cash-strapped following the shutdown. Casinos will not want to positively reinforce the value orientated guest. Perhaps, down the road you could see additional free attractions,

5. You could find a potential amazing deal on a used car. The rental car agencies on sitting on a huge supply of rental vehicles in Las Vegas, and within the coming months auto repossessions will flood the used car market even further. Be on the lookout for a deal on a used vehicle.

Again, I am just a guy at my computer; but this is just my opinion.

If I have to WAIT to enter a hotel or a casino, I am NOT going back to Vegas. End of story!

I think regular HEPA filters, changed regularly, will be adequate for ensuring clean air in the hotels.

If the deals are going to be 'everywhere, why are the room rates going back up and they haven't even re-opened yet
