Bravo! I like what you have done. I am lucky I like Xfce best of all as it is probably the easiest desktop environment to work with while building respins. You have discovered the xml files inside the xfce4 folder and that is essential to tweaking the settings. I have no idea how other desktop environments store their settings, so that is why I say I am lucky I like Xfce.

If you want to have all your images transferred to the installed system, you may need to start replacing the images inside and

I am glad you had a good time playing with live build. Just so you know, I include all the Calamares Installer configuration files and my script has the necessary lines to uncomment if you want Calamares available on the live desktop to use.

Really liked this video. I did the same thing using bionicpup to create my own personal distro that I can use on a USB stick. It was fun and pretty easy.
I never tried doing the same with Debian. Learned a lot from this video!! Eznix has great and informative videos as well. Have a fantastic 2020 to you and your family!! 😀

I have looked at this some and Installed Eznix's build in a VM which is a nice build. Myself you know that I am a Cinnamon guy and I was going to try this but in a Cinnamon Desktop but my head was just not ready for this... Lol
I was into the Arch build way stuff at the time, which my Arch Build is still running great btw... I have used Eznix scripts and yours on several builds of Arch and all have been well let's say Fun... :D
Not quite ready for this yet but it is on the ToDo List.... Lol

Good work on your Debian respin. <grin> There's no going back now; you'll be awake in the wee hours thinking of more tweaks. I have just about cooked my hard drive and SSD building my local Mint and Ubuntu respins. Right now, I'm about to jump into the Manjaro world, intending to build a minimalist QTile / no desktop respin.

For all of the interesting systems on Distrowatch, there is probably a way to respin what you have and end up with something similar.
