solo female travel to belgium | BRUSSELS
Показать описание
SEPTEMBER 2019 | I decided to take a solo trip to Brussels while I was staying with my sister in Paris. It was only a 1.5 hour train ride from Paris, so it was the perfect opportunity to go to Belgium, a country I had never been to before.
Here is a list of some things to do in Brussels if it is your first time visiting:
1. Have Belgium waffles at Maison Dandoy
-Known as having some of the best Belgium waffles in Brussels, this place is a must-visit. It is a family owned establishment and they use 100% all natural ingredients to produce one the best artisan waffles in Brussels. You can choose between Brussels waffle or Leige waffle, with any toppings you would like, from cooked strawberries, nuts, caramel and ice cream.
2. Walk around the Grand Place
-The Grand Place (or Grand square) is the central market place in Brussels. It is surrounded by beautiful buildings, including the City Hall, which has been around since the 15th century. It is considered as one of the most beautiful squares in Europe and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
3. Go to the Belgian Beer Museum
-Located right by the Grand Place, entrance into the museum is 5 euros which includes a free dark or blonde beer. The museum is not massive or comprehensive, but is a convenient place you can rest, enjoy a beer, use the bathrooms, while learning a thing or two about beer.
4. Go to the Brussels Park for a picnic
-Brussels Park is the largest park in Brussels and opposite the Belgian House of Parliament. Although the day I visited the weather was not nice enough for a picnic, during the summer it would be an amazing spot to enjoy some beverages and packed lunches.
5. Buy some Belgian chocolates
-Belgium is known for its amazing and decadent chocolates, so why not buy a present for a loved one or treat yourself to a box of quality and hand made chocolates? I personally picked Godiva, but there are plenty of shops (small and large) where you can have your pick of delicious chocolates.
6. Have a beer at Delirium
-Belgium is known for the beers, so do not miss going to Delirium, which holds a Guinness World record for the most number of beers available for tasting. They have 2004 beers on offer and also serve some bar food also.
