As a Belgian, I find this video very well researched and instructive. The only other advice I give to visitors is to pay attention to the Low Emission Zones in Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp, where foreigners visiting frequently have to register their car plates before entering the LEZ's.

Also fun fact, almost every city's people have their own name. People from Ghent/Gand/Gent are known as "stroppendragers" or "noose wearers". And people from Mechelen/Malines are known as "maneblussers" or "moon extinguishers". They get their name of a story that happened on the night of 27th to 28th of january 1687. A cloudy, full moon night. A dude stumbling out a bar looked up, and because of how the light fell, thought the churchtower was on fire. He sounded the alarm and so all the people woke up, and still pretty groggy they looked outside and saw the same. Everyone jumped to action to start extinghuishing the 'buring' city. People from Ghent got their name because of emperor Charles V. 3th of may 1540. Who after a revolt, hung a few people, and let the others of the revolters march through the city with a noose around their neck, to show the people of Ghent what would happen. Since then it's been a symbol of refusal to live under tyrannical rule.

And in the same way alot of city inhabitants have their own anecdote and their own nickname

Just to let you tourists know: I'm a Belgian myself, and we also think that it's super ridiculous that you have to pay everywhere just to go to the restroom.
About that cinema, they're probably talking about the bigger ones here called "Kinepolis".
That's also true. You pay a lot of money on your ticket, then you pay too much on drinks/snacks, only to find out that you also have to pay EVERY time you want to use the restroom.
So don't worry, even us Belgians think that it's very stupid. :)

Just a little additional info: Brussels actually has 35 train stations/stops but North, Central and Midi are the main ones. The next largest ones are Luxemburg and Schuman (which are the stops for the European quarter) but the drop-off is quite large.

Amazing guide. I was agonizing on where to go after Germany, and this made it an easy choice. So awesome that you covered such a wide range. 🥰

We are going to Belgium in 90 days for a week and we found this video so interesting and informative. The best we have found on YouTube. Also found that Belgium tourist site you showed in your screen shots that will help us plan. Thanks for this

The best way in my opinion to get to see the best side of the cities is by talking to locals. Ive had a couple ask me in antwerp where to go for good food i ended up showing them around a little and i am still friends with them (online ofcourse) 7 years later

I can't believe this video has so many less likes. This is by far the most researched video on this topic than any other I have seen from different channels.

French in french fries is not capitalIzed as it refers to the cut, not the country of France.

I'm cycling from Hoek van Holland next year and this was really good to know. Will definitely visit The old hot chocolate house in Bruges. I'm staying on a campsite just east of Bruges and hoping to visit Gent too.

Flemmish is not a language, it is a grouping name for all the different dialects spoken in Flanders. The official language of Flanders is Dutch. There is also a German speaking part in the east of the country, German is also one of the three official languages.

I went to Belgium in 1997. While I enjoyed Brugge, my main purpose was to visit the towns where my Grandfather was born, Staden. Had a wonderful time and even had coffee with the Mayor, who looked up the records of my family

Great video, helpful stuff. I visited Belgium back in 2019 and produced a video on many of the places you mentioned.
