To clarify Brian Mage here uses the term ''energy'' as a replacement for schopenhauers term ''will'', because it causes confusion to non-philosophers, and those who didn't read or understood Schopenhauer.
Brian actually doesn't make this leap to call it energy, its just for the purposes of explaining.
If anyone interested why he is using the word energy and not will, because energy is less subjective and independent, the term will suposes ''someones will'' when in fact you can undestand the existence of everything as the representation or consequence of the will.
Its a problem, schopenhauer really picked the wrong term here. just forget the actuall term when trying to understand him.

The will here is a translation mistake. Schopenhauer took the word will from his favourite book, the upanishads. He had a translation from persian in latin language. There the word maya (cosmic delusion of matter) is translated as "will". The Vorstellung in his system is avidya (individual delusion of ego). So in truth his system means "the world as cosmic and individual delusion".

I get this I totally do, what is the purpose of this energy. I’ve been asking myself the same thing for months. I have 8, 000 words written in a note document to answer this one question. I called it the blue block. For lack of better analogy why not use physical representation to represent the non physical. You have a hard time imagining something you cannot see touch or feel, yet you cannot dispute its there. This needs to be addressed

We have the origin of this "energy", its the singularity of the big bang.... an infinitely hot and dense point that was there at the instant of the expansion, its where time, space and matter began.... we ARE all connected, we ARE stardust...

So Schopenhaur presupposes the Will/Energy as fundamental noumenal substance based on subjective experience. That's seems a bit too arbitrary. And yes, the Will is what moves anything in the universe. But, what it is in itself, is where it's lacking. Hegel does a better job, simply by starting at the presuppositionless, the vanishing mediator of the Becoming is another name for the fundamental movement towards self-determination. And he actually manages to derive it from the presuppositionless thought.

Without a definition of "energy" this is just another word salad to be interpreted as anyone sees fit.
