Oh how I can't wait for the updated Euro NCAP criteria to come into effect so we can finally get out of this horrible era of screens and capacitive touch buttons for everything. Thank you Euro NCAP for being the adult in the room and bringing the manufacturers back in line.

Just want to say you deserve a big thanks for chapters. I love cars, mostly affordable, etc. I can focus in on what I want to hear very easily! Such a joy! And you both do a great job!

Haha, I submitted the Mazda and Buick question. I've driven them both and I do like the zoom, zoom power of the Mazda. Very fun drive. The buick wins for technology and comfort. I'll test them both again in December. Thats when I plan to purchase!! I am excited!

I used to like the old column PRND shifters for automatics they had back in the 70's. Simple, easy to use, and standard across all manufacturers. I don't really know why they took them away, perhaps it was a styling exercise to make it look like you had a "sporty" manual, it certainly didn't make any difference to how the automatic transmission worked. They are gone and not coming back but I thought it was a good design.
By the way I have owned a Mazda CX-90 PHEV for a year now and don't have any complaints about the transmission, it works fine for me.

Old style column shifters were fine, even in Fords with a wiper stalk as the wiper stalk was much shorter and higher up. Frankly the "joystick" style in my 14 Charger made it an issue to rapidly shift from D to R to get out of the way of another vehicle.
Manuals need a hand brake, much easier to start on a hill.

12:05 I'm going for the CX-5 Carbon Turbo or Signature trim because it's more performance & feature packed at a better price

I commute rural in Norther AB, drive to work at 5 am. I'm very happy I can keep my center screen in my cx-30 just a analog clock . Screens are so bright.

Buttons and dials, for sure.
A decent size screen, not huge as in Tesla or long as in new BMW, for GPS and some other infotainment would be fine.
Dash built-in screen would be great, not a tablet glued to the dash kind.

Parking and parking brake;
I hit the "start" button to turn off my 2023 Santa Fe. This automatically puts the vehicle in Park, and if it's on any incline, it automatically sets the parking brake. The brake releases automatically when Drive is selected, if your seat belt is fastened. It also has physical controls for hvac and audio.
Works for me~

Yes! Buttons and knobs. What analog gauges, manual handbrake, manual transmission even regular automatic transmission. And not everyone wants a sunroof.

Good stuff. I stand up for the Buick Enclave, Zack. It's an all-around perfect suv experience. You should drive it. And very quiet.

I actually was cross shopping the CX-5 and Envision, and just something about the CX-5 I can't shake, it's my dream car! But the Envision was a close second.

Most cars years ago had column shifters. I loved them back then.

I think extrapolating the initial 5 years into 10 is risky. In my experience with some Toyotas I've owned, most problem spots show up in the first 5 years, then 5-10 are relatively trouble free, and then some new stuff starts showing up after 10 years.

Just love the column stalk shifter on our GLC. I don't recall ever mis-using that arrangement. You guys drive so many vehicles, you don't have a chance to get used to any particular configuration. Just my opiniom
