It can operate in 3 modes, bistable, monostable and astable mode.
astable mode of triple 5 timer IC, is also called free running or self-triggering mode. it doesn’t have any stable state, it has two quasi stable state, high and low. it automatically interchange its two states, on a particular interval, hence generates a rectangular waveform. this time duration of high and low output, has been determined by the external resistors, r1, r2 and a capacitor c. astable mode works as an oscillator circuit, in which output oscillates, at a particular frequency, and generate pulses in rectangular form.
here is the practical demonstration of the astable mode of triple 5 timer IC. we have connected an l e d, to the output of the triple 5 IC. in this circuit, l e d will switch on and off automatically with a particular duration.
output high and output low duration, is determined by the resistors, r1 & r2 and capacitor, c.
on time, off time and frequency, can be calculated using these formulas.

In Monostable mode it will give a Low OUTPUT unless we press the switch.
After pressing the switch, it will give the High OUTPUT for some duration, then it come bake to its previous state. Time duration for which it gives High OUTPUT depends upon the value of capacitor C1.

In monostable mode, the 555 timer outputs a single pulse of current for a certain length of time. This is sometimes referred to as a one-shot pulse.
An example of this can be seen with an LED and a push-button.
When we press of the button, the LED will light up, then turn off automatically after a predetermined length of time. The time the LED stays on depends on the values of a resistor and capacitor connected to the 555 timer. The time can be calculated from the equation:

Where t is the length of the electrical output in seconds, R1 is the resistance of the resistor in Ohms, and C1 is the capacitance of the capacitor in Farads.
As you can see from the equation, the length of the electrical output can be increased by using larger resistor or capacitor values. You can get a shorter output pulse with smaller resistor or capacitor values.

In Bi stable mode, it works as an on off switch.
If we press the first button, then it will give a high output, if we press the second button, then it will give the low output.
These are some of the applications of triple 5 timer IC.
This was the basic introduction of triple 5 timer IC. I hope you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much.
