The 555 Timer in Bistable Mode

In this tutorial, I will go through setting up a 555 timer circuit in bistable mode and demonstrate the basic function of a flip-flop circuit. When the trigger switch is pressed once, the LED turns on and stays on. When the reset switch is pressed, the LED turns off and stays off.

Tank you for your video. Don't you forget the decoupling capacitor to avoid spurious signals.

How is this different from a power switch to the LED, this just has two switches instead of one

Thanks. How long will the battery last if the led is off?

My question is when you give supply and both triggers at off, which state will the output be in, random or always off?

Hi scott, im wanting to making a latching timer circuit using a 555 thats adjustable between 4 and 10 seconds to power a relay. I want to use a lever switch to trigger the timer on and stay on, no matter the state of the switch there after... so no reset. Ive been looking but a bit confused to which circuit would best suit.

Great video, was thinking could i use a npn transistor to replace the trigger switch? Only ask as i have a positive voltage signal (about 0.5 sec pulse).

Why the bridge between 1-6 and the capacitor?

How can we combine Astable Mode and Bistable mode?

A circuit diagram would have been informative

You really should not have power being routed into the 555 through components like this--connect the battery last.
