I mean I can kind of understand Yuzu... But why the 3DS emulator? NINTENDO IS NOT ACTIVELY SUPPORTING THE 3DS IN FACT THEY SHUT DOWN THE ESHOP NOT TOO LONG AGO

So many people seem confused by this news. Citra is open source. Forks on github have been made. Work can continue on Citra. Citra can still be downloaded from many sites. Your emulators (both yuzu and citra) won't up "updated" to stop working. They will continue to work. The wide majority of 3DS games run extremely well on Citra and will continue to do so. You can still play your 3DS games using Citra.

As of now, both Yuzu and Citra still works on Steam Deck. But I wouldn't update after today.

I don't know the story, but my impression is that Citra was collateral damage. Nintendo was upset over Yuzu and demanded that the LLC in charge shut down the entire business, which happened to include Citra by coincidence. I suspect someone else will re-upload the source code soon and Nintendo won't care.

So I tried to get on the Citra website. Is just now starting to trend about what just happened to Yuzu. So sadly, it seems like Citra is discontinuing along with Yuzu. Yeah, man. This is starting to stink bad.

The Yuzu team was way too greedy. Its so stupid that they did things like paywall TOTK fixes weeks before the game came out, posted how-to guides on how dump your key, used new games to advertise their Patreon, etc. Citra taking a stray bullet for this is so dumb when the team could have easily avoided putting such a huge bullseye on their backs.

This is so sad man. It's sad and weird, i mean emulation it self can't be illegal! I don't understand what the hell is going on here. The Yuzo thing i can understand but what the hell, 3ds is just old and out of the market

Now that the door has opened (Pandora's box), other companies are seeing it and now they will be "closing shop" or become more secretive out of fear of Nintendo coming after them since this "Nintendo vs Yuzu" lawsuit went through and Nintendo won.

Trickle down effect aka domino effect will happen.

The fact that they were charging for this Yuzu was their biggest mistake. They could have just accepted donations and kept it open-source for free.

You can still get emulators online or through friends or even ebay. It's not stopping what was out there

I have a copy of Citra as well as the install files. Obviously there'll be no more support or updates to Citra, but will Citra still work? I want to be able to play 3ds games that I dont already own both for my own enjoyment and for streaming when I pluck up the courage to do so.
