TIRES VS TRACKS? JOHN DEERE 330G VS 333G SKID STEER 🚜👨‍🌾

Wheeled vs track skid steer. Which one is better for our application?

Out at the new property we're quickly learning what works and what doesn't. I've been using my John Deere 330G more than any other machine out here, and while I love it, I just don't think it's meant for these off-pavement conditions. I keep thinking of a John Deere 333g track steer. Any time after rain it just is leaving deep ruts from the tires. The PSI is just too much for this type of ground, and I don't have time to waste getting stuck!

So we asked you what we should do. And today we'll show you our decision.

Here's a tip when you are getting ready to turn with the tracked skid steer slowly turn it to the way you want to turn and you won't rut up the grass

My Big Tex is nearly 20 years old and never had a single problem. Many, many miles on it. Soon to get the 3rd set of tires.

Tracks are the way to go. Congrats on new equipment. I like my Big Tex 14LP dump trailer. You will be happy with your new trailer too.

Good looking tracked skid steer and the new trailer should do you good. I love my PJ. But I need a bigger one.

The tracked machine will always always, be more versatile then a wheeled one.. Ive put hundreds of hours on both..
You won't regret your decision

I have a JD 320E, I was going to buy a tracked machine but this is for my land and I get no deduction. The wheeled machine has worked really well, I have to let it dry out after a rain but I mostly have wooded property and trails. It has a simplified undercarriage compared to the tracks and the tires are cheaper. The wheels are great for compacting the soil for trails.

You will definitely be more productive with the track vs wheel one. And if tilt the mulcher head down and let the front drag it will clean up better when you are backing up over everything you have taken down.

I found your channel (really appreciating it so far!) because I'm trying to decide between skid/track steer or tractor for my sloping/hilly 5 acre property. I need it to do some major brush & small tree clearing, pasture mowing, mud abatement, moving & spreading rock... I THINK a small-medium track steer is what would best suit, but I'm finding they are much more costly than equivalent tractors. My top concerns are stability on slopes and not getting bogged down in mud.
Thanks for being a welcome resource in my learning adventure.

Tracked machines are amazing in their spot, same with the wheeled machines, only their spot is not as wide. For me, I would do wheeled with ott, but that's my application only.

Good call. What you are doing you need a track loader. I just picked up a new to me used JD319D. Love it. Going to be using for brush clearing as well. Great video!

Great video you will loved the tracked machine been in construction for 20 years never once have ever seen on get stuck or heard of a operator tell a story of one getting stuck I want to see some video of that bad boy moving logs with the grapple bet it does real good at that

You are correct in the assumption. Rubber tires for hard surfaces and tracks for soft surfaces. We used the same brush clearing attachment on a track machine and cleared brush and trees away from two buildings in under 6 hours. These buildings were unviewable from the main road and would never know they were there. Track machine did the work.

Think i could watch you clear brush and listen to that music all

I think you’re going to like the trac 1000 times better !! The wheeled skid steer was another gator incident waiting to happen 😬🤣. Keep up the good work!!

Great video as always. The pj trailer is going to serve you well. I've got the same trailer, but it has a kubotakx057-4 that goes on it. It's load capacity is about 17 or 18 k...I've never been a Deere machine before but I've heard that there strong machines as far as lifting capacity. Best of luck with your new machine and looking forward to your other videos.

After the axles of course look for the following in a trailer.
There should be no scotch loks used. That's a huge red flag of shortcuts.
Chassis grounds suck, if the trailer doesn't use them you've likely found a good one.
Are the lights hardwired in place or connected with connectors.
Are the lights LED or incandescent.
