I’m sceptical, but hope they will succeed. The talk about Chinese investment around this project worries me, though.

I'm all for the tunnel but not the Dubai style buildings on artificial islands. That's disgusting. 🤮🤢rather further develop Tallinn and Helsinki with green wooden districts

The project itself is good and a lot of people forget that this is pretty much a part of the broader Rail Baltica which connects Germany and Poland to the Baltic states, as well as Finland if this becomes reality.

But there is the obvious issue which is funding. I don't think the Finns wants to be dependent on the Chinese if they end up owning something like 50% of this extremely important infrastructure. EU funding this would be the best option for us, but how willing would they be to pay for this mega project at the corner of Europe?

isnt this the guy who said he was going to build a hyperloop? "entrepreneurs" "islands" "plasma drilling" "privately funded" sounds like bs. should interview someone who is not tied to this project so we get a more objective viewpoint

I’m pretty sure the channel tunnel was a private venture too? Don’t know why he brought that up as a reason why it would be done faster than it

It'll be too expensive to build a tunnel under the Gulf of Finland between Helsinki and Tallinn. I'm pretty sure it'll be too hard to make that happen in the future since the Gulf of Finland has a tendancy to freeze over.

Even a tunnel under the La Mansh is economically questionable.

Tallinn less than a half of million, Helsinki (area) less than 1.5 million. No, it won't fly. Islands? Forget. Four years? Next joke, please.
You may try slow moving cargo train but even this may not be economically sound.
