CERN Scientists Answer Questions on Dark Matter

preview_player
Показать описание
#CERN is home to several experiments that seek out the particles that may make up #darkmatter. These include experiments based at the Large Hadron Collider #LHC such as ATLAS and CMS, which have broken new ground in the search for dark-matter particles, and non-LHC experiments such as CAST and NA64, which too have added new knowledge about the properties of these hypothetical particles.

Ask your questions on dark matter, and our scientists may just reply to you like these lucky winners! #DarkMatterDay

I spoke to a professor who works there, he waffled me with science, and avoided the question of unnatural collisions with Hadron Collider, wrathful forces that will be the end of us all, he looked at me, and asked “have you lunched?”…I believe something or someone has a massive influence on everyone that works on that scheme. Very odd.

The people asking the questions sounded smarter than the ones answering them.

When can we then hear the answers to the questions mentioned? Very interesting! Thanks

What is the most notable discovery made at CERN so far?

Hi. How were you able to contain antimatter plasma. As I remeber the issue last test was production and containment of dark/anti matter would only stay charged for 7 seconds before dissipation of anti/dark matter.

does dark matter have dark interactions with the dark dimension of the spirit world?

Was it a "consensus" that the universe was mostly baryonic matter prior to the discovery of the effects of dark matter and energy?

The answer to the first question, which was very clear, was very unsatisfying and inadequate to the point of being useless. Why not just tell the questioner the actual answer, which is that while dark matter doesn't interact with light or the strong force, in addition to interacting with normal matter via gravity, it also (hypothetically) interacts though the weak force, very rarely scattering off of eg. a Z boson in the vicinity of an atomic nucleus. Hence their name, WIMPs - weakly interacting massive particles. There, was that so hard?

I think dark matter only interacts with dark energy, whereas normal matter interacts with normal energy... To capture and study something that we can't see... maybe dark matter is actually a group made up of even smaller particles than quarks, something extremely tiny that we still don't want to discover, so it can pass through all the bodies unnoticed... And maybe, the way they're able to interact with normal matter, transporting it around, would be if the quarks (or these likely 'tiny particles within it) were somehow attracted to these tiny particles (also known as dark matter), scattering more matter throughout the cosmos, thus expanding the universe (as we've heard that the universe-expanding agent is dark energy).

Otherwise, I think the reason would be something that should be measured in 4d, which we can't measure yet. And it would make sense, since all of spacetime as a whole must be a 4d "body" as it contains 3D objects inside it (like 3D objects can contain 2d objects and so on).

My question is what makes it dark matter? Is it labeled dark because it is unseen?

Detection? easy peasy, "filter, then filter to infinity, and what's left is . . ."

(Neutralino)
Relationship to dark matter
As a heavy, stable particle, the lightest neutralino is an excellent candidate to form the universe's cold dark matter.: 99 : 8  In many models[which?] the lightest neutralino can be produced thermally in the hot early universe and leave approximately the right relic abundance to account for the observed dark matter. A lightest neutralino of roughly 10–10000 GeV is the leading weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) dark matter candidate.: 124
👇👇👇
Neutralino dark matter could be observed experimentally in nature either indirectly or directly. For indirect observation, gamma ray and neutrino telescopes look for evidence of neutralino annihilation in regions of high dark matter density such as the galactic or solar centre. For direct observation, special purpose experiments such as the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) seek to detect the rare impacts of WIMPs in terrestrial detectors. These experiments have begun to probe interesting supersymmetric parameter space, excluding some models for neutralino dark matter, and upgraded experiments with greater sensitivity are under development.
(We wish experimental physicists would use special computers to search for signs of the Neutralino)

Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in proelio; contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperet illi Deus; supplices deprecamur: tuque, Princeps militiae caelestis, Satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo, divina virtute in infernum detrude. Amen
