Ukrainian Drone Buzzes Low Over Proxy Trenches, Records Russian Mine Launchers

Ukrainian forces buzzed Russian proxy trench positions at extremely low altitudes with a small recreational helicopter drone and identified Russian POM-2 landmine launchers and new trench positions not previously known to the Ukrainian units.

Flying the drone low over enemy positions actually poses less risk to the unmanned aircraft. By the time the device is detected by the enemy, it has already buzzed out of sight. Drones observing from high overhead can be engaged by ground units as they remain in view for longer periods of time.

POM-2 mines have been used with increasing frequency by the Russians in ongoing conflicts. POM-2 anti personnel mines are delivered into position by various weapons systems. In this video, we see an actual launcher rack specifically designed for emplacing the devices. However, the POM-2 can also be launched into position over greater ranges with modified RPG-7 warheads and 82mm mortar rounds. Given the current ranged trench stalemate in Ukraine, being able to launch landmines from friendly positions to behind enemy lines makes the POM-2 a practical choice. However, the fire-and-forget application of these mines will make them an indiscriminate danger for decades to come.

The crazy thing is that FPV feed isn't encrypted or something... its just 5.8Ghz analog video. So the Russians could just get some fatsharks with any receiver and look at the drone's feed all the way back to its ''base'' of operation.

Makes you realize how revolutionary reconnaissance airplanes were in WW1

Crazy how effective drones are not even offensively but just in terms of reconnaissance you can literally see exactly where the enemy are and plan accordingly

Never make a second pass, most air assets are lost due to ground proximity flight. Good job and fly safe.

I read about seasoned fighter pilots from WW 2, that never go back for a second pass, that's where you get shot down. This drone survived a second pass.

I love her she’s like we’re not even planning on invading Ukraine chill everyone’s like why are you moving another 30, 000 troops in 100 military vehicles rushes like bro don’t even worry

Guy piloting the drone must either be having the time of his life surfing above the trenches or sweating his ass off trying not to get shot down and lose a $300-800 piece of hardware

That's a pretty smart move.
Way lower risk of losing the drone and later you can watch everything closely in slow motion replay.

Now imagine 30 of those with shape charges installed and you have a glimpse at the future of warfare.

This video was published for review A YEAR AGO. And it is not a reflection of current events. The one who is now commenting on this as happening in 2022, studied very poorly at school.
A year ago, it could only be the positions of the LPR or DPR militia, and not the regular Russian army. The fact that the author of the video then uses the word "Russian" in the title means that he understands that the LPR and the DPR are protected by local Russians who live there, as their parents lived. grandfathers and great-grandfathers

This is low tech. Now imagine a larger, quieter drone with a really high tech camera on it and transmitting on a private frequency and painted a soft blue color to be invisible at 100 feet.
