Moving house with the updated Toyota Fortuner

If you're moving house, a Toyota Fortuner comes in quite handy. But sheesh, moving is no joke. And as much as I want to say the Fortuner was amazing, there were a few things I would change if I had the chance. Such as the rear seats, I hate the way they fold upwards and take up space. Nonetheless, the updated Fortuner provided something that most other cars cannot provide, and that is tons of space. In future, I would rather just not have to move though, if I am honest.

I love cars but I love your chattiness even more. You make car reviews more humanly. Keep up the fantastic work.

This car is brilliantly simple & basic. I find cars with complex screens distracting to the driver with having to go through many menus to play around & select useless options. Fortuner is ideal for all situations, school run, work, leisure, workhorse, easy to park despite its size. Simply brilliant…& you have to get in in white!

Sales proves that reliability is tops!

Stunning vehicle. Hear what you say about Everest, but at this point the sales are still doing the talking. As of last month, the Hilux still has more sales than the new Ranger. I think the story will be the same in case of the Everest
And yes, I for one will never even consider a Ford above a Toyota.

Not a fan either. Always felt it's for ou toppies😅 Had an Everest before and like you said, just can't compare this one to nextgen.

Toyota buyers are usually not looking for the latest tech or the best looking interior. They want something that's functional and indestructible, which is why Fortuners are very popular. I'm not saying Ford Everest isn't reliable but having a lot of tech can invite unwanted issues and errors.

As for Ford trying to position Everest to compete with Prado is merely an excuse for them to price their product higher. I won't lie...Everest looks really good but R1 million for a Ford or for any vehicle isn't justifiable.

Also Ford may want to watch out for the upcoming Toyota Prado. If the new Lexus GX is any indication of what the new Toyota Prado will be like, competing in this sector won't be easy for Ford even though they have an amazing product.

Toyota is by far an all rounder vehicle and this Fortuner in my opinion is just a nice little face lift to an already loved vehicle. One thing about Toyota is that it has never been a vehicle to compete for latest technology or gismos like other competing manufactures and people tend to compare and complain about the not so latest technology but Toyota is all about function over form and the strong suit which gets people hooked is the reliability and piece of mind. Besides half of all the tech and gismos in these latest vehicles people end up not even using them in a month or so and they paid for it.

I know they are from different categories but I will take this over a Juke😂 and the new Everest which I'm failing to love when I look at it from the back😂

You know your thumbnail looks like the Katy Perry glitch….😂 . I’ll go for a Pajero Sport or MUX over this all day.

Best car to have if you move house is a VW Kombi / Carravelle

I know I’m the minority, I have never liked this car. Its top heavy, massive body roll, the extra 2 seats folding into the side, the lights at the back had an after market vibe, bad infotainment system.. reminds me of the Toyota venture 🫣

In Johannesburg it is dangerous to drive a Fortuner…

Those 2 fold up seats are terrible. We would never use so had them removed. The mounting “hole” was then covered with Booxe Gap Cap’s and into the foot well we put a Booxe Box. Now a huge space for packing particularly if we fold the second row seats down.

What does irritate me though is the passenger safety belt. Rattles against the b-pillar panelling. Surely a simple clip could have been included?

The interior was a huge let down... it was better to retain something plain than the red accent.

The corolla of the SUV world, nothing special, terrible ride quality, basic interior. I'm honestly shocked that there's so many on the roads, however, it's as reliable as sars collecting your tax money. That said, I would still take this over any ford every time.

All Toyota models are outdated and falling behind competitors

10 face lifts in 7 years, it still ugly with that long nose. It is out dated, top heavy, and they steal them so easily. The Ford is way better.
