I played guitar mostly back in the 80's, then quit playing for almost 25 years, and early this year started playing again. just watched season one, great trip down memory lane, I went through all those eighties guitar phases . Although I don't play that genre anymore, I still use the same techniques on the never ending quest to get my own sound ...cheers  Randy

Ok just opening this question up to all the shredders out there. That lick at 3:16 - it was insane. My question is how does anyone come up with a run like that? What are you visualizing on the fretboard to create that? I've been playing guitar for a long ass time but that has always been a mystery to me.

Wow! You know....
This made me look at my own playing and I realized I've been doing this for a few years BACKWARDS! :)
Yep, for some funny reason I've been using Upward pickslanting a lot to economize my fast runs and to be able to play odd groups of notes. No idea how that came to be.
Well...I'm working on reversing it now. Meaning getting comfortable with downward pickslanting.

Loving your Les Paul thru Cornford tone on these videos showing the various parts.  Have you ever thought of a Troy Grady solo CD of shred guitar?  It's pretty cinematic stuff in spots.
