8 Months and then some, welcome to our dance of life!
I hope you guys liked this one, if you some bits which were uncoloured, you didn't and will now ignore it forever

Still, this took ages and again, there are a LOT of mistakes and issues, colours changing during rendering and such. Still it was super fun to make, and I definetely am starting on my next one soon. Hopefully it won't be such a difficult one like this.

This is such a homage to what the DreamSMP could have been, and to what Wilbur could have been. I know this was made years ago without the context we have now, but now it feels so nostalgic and so aliened with our love for the stories told on that sever. Not only what could've been, but what was. And feelings and emotions like that will always have a place. thank you for letting us have this, even now. It helps.

I’m not sure if this was intended, but Tommy and Wilbur never look at each other in the eyes, as they didn’t see eye to eye on everything in the election, lmangurg, Pogtopia, or now.

what makes it Sadder is that even though its all the people wilbur loved, all their solo parts focus on how their relationships with him deteriorated :( like with tubbo and techno it's the festival -- being left to die and being left to kill, respectively. with phil it's when he had to kill him. with eret it's how he betrayed him for the crown, with fundy it's fundy leaving him, with niki it's how they were separated and how she felt like he left her to fall alone. tommy is the only one that relives good memories, but he's also crying all the way through, maybe representing how he never let his relationship with wilbur falter even when it hurt him? either way. ouch. props to you mate <3

oh oh i just noticed how wilbur's eyes change colour to match the others' colour schemes! yellow with niki, orange with fundy, green with phil, and then brown as himself... what a lovely little detail :D

Watching this animation again after the recent events after the recent events of both my life and the lives of some of the DSMP animations makes me so sad that I feel like breaking down like the song describes, but I can't. I miss 2020 so much. No matter how crappy the year seemed at the time, those years of the DSMP were the years that I felt most free. Looking back at it, I may have been going through things, but the memories make me want to go back.

I love how we see each character’s relationship with Wilbur— how he impacted their lives, and the state it left them in (especially Wilbur and Philza— love the merging of the lore and what happens to someone when they actually die in Minecraft, where he dissolved after being stabbed) in the end, only to eventually see what he himself wanted? And the train scene caught me by surprise, I love all of it. Brilliant animation

The part from 0:00 to 5:06 is my personal favourite :)

I can't express my love for this animation and all its symbolism so I'm just going to flail about my favourite parts here:

0:32 where Tubbo is dancing with all the people who ended up using him in the end; they are all made of the same green strings tying around his wrists. And in the end Pogtopia-era Wilbur is one of them, even though the old Wilbur never would've hurt Tommy's best friend.

1:09 Tommy getting back up because even when he's lost everything, he still has to keep pushing no matter how broken he is. This is in sharp contrast to Wilbur, who self-destructed and took out everyone around him.

1:24 Tommy holding Wilbur's hand as he passes from L'Manberg founder to Pogtopian rebel to Ghostbur, because he never stopped caring about him even when Wilbur did.

1:41 Niki goes from happily sewing the flag by candlelight to a later scene where she is crying over its burnt remains, candle out. She just wanted to be happy and peaceful, but the constant war took that from her.

1:56 where Niki falls but Wilbur catches her, they both clearly care about each other, but when Wilbur disappears she falls backwards with a smile. If no one is there to catch her anymore, then why shouldn't she fall?

3:03 Techno's desperation as everyone betrays him by immediately installing Tommy and Tubbo as "president elect" even though they didn't win any election and he promised to help overthrow a government and they threw that back in his face. The emotions captured in that clip are so perfect I can't even-

3:24 Phil hugging a young Wilbur and turning away as the older versions of him walk across the background, showing how Phil wasn't there for his son when he needed it the most.

3:39 Wilbur fades away in Phil's arms as he starts to cry, idk why this scene hit me so hard but it did it was so well animated.

3:48 Wilbur's transformation from pre-L'Manberg to Pogtopia, his facial expressions are so on point. He goes from naively innocent to satisfied and content to desperate and malicious to a washed-out ghost trying to remember his past.

4:00 this entire set of transitions is amazing, how did you do this, they're all so happy together why couldn't we have had this in canon istg-

4:43 the red outline of Revivebur and the red light showing Ghostbur's desperate handprints on the train window, the white streak of hair, the lack of music except for the rattling of the train, everything is so grim.

4:54 Wilbur's vicious smile showing he's not the same Wilbur everyone knew and wanted back, he's even more insane and broken now and it's horrifying, especially paired with that laugh.

This has been my essay I can't flail about this animatic enough there are so many things I didn't write in this comment this is so good.

I love that Phil, Nikki and Fundy see Wilbur’s eyes differently. I’m not quite sure if Nikki and Fundy see his eyes the same actually, but it kind of seems a bit more orange for Fundy, which would fit my theory that they all see his eyes their color. (Nikki yellow, Phil green, ect.) I like to think that it shows that their memory of him has been warped to fit the image they want/need to have of him. :)

I’m sorry but this is unironically my favorite Dream SMP animatic, all the little details and overall flow make it absolutely immaculate.
My favorite part is also how Wilbur danced with the Tubbo, Tommy, and Niki showing the relationship he had with the three of them
And after how Fundy walked away from Wilbur, not as a hatred type of way but showing him how he grew up.
AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE ENDING

The part where Tommy breaks down and then gathers himself hits really hard. He always had to gather himself for others to keep his image strong, but he really had gone through a lot.
