► Understanding how the heart receives its own blood supply is vital for medical students, nursing students, and anyone entering the healthcare field. In this video, we dive into the anatomy of the coronary arteries, explaining the key pathways and branches that ensure the heart muscle gets the oxygen it needs. We start with the coronary ostia and move through the right coronary artery (RCA) and its branches, including the posterior descending artery (PDA), often involved in determining heart dominance. On the left side, we explore the left main coronary artery and its two crucial branches: the left anterior descending artery (LAD), a key supplier to the left ventricle, and the circumflex artery.
You’ll also learn about heart dominance, where either the RCA or left coronary artery (LCA) feeds the PDA, affecting clinical outcomes. We wrap up with insights into coronary veins, like the great cardiac vein and the coronary sinus, that drain blood back to the heart. This lecture is an essential resource for mastering heart anatomy and building a foundation for understanding cardiovascular diseases like coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction.
If you're preparing for exams or brushing up on your anatomy, this video will guide you through the complexity of coronary circulation with clear explanations and helpful visuals.
