Beginner HACKING CERTIFICATION SHOWDOWN!!! Pentest+ vs. CEH vs. eJPT

I often get asked which hacking certification is best for the beginner and inevitably the conversation and comparison between Pentest+, CEH, and eJPT is had.

Seeing as I've taken all three exams and I've created training content for two of them, I figured I'd weigh-in on the topic and give my 2-cents. I'm sure I'll overlook some things, but my final analysis still stands.

So which cert gets my nod for "BEST" hacking cert for beginners? Tune in and find out!

Note that the eJPT has changed recently. The course now has around 150 hours of learning and the exam is 48 hours and has 37 questions. Previously it was a about half of that in learning and the exam was 72 hours for 20 questions I think. I passed it 1 month ago. Learned sooo much. Definitely check it out.

Glad I found your channel! I'm about halfway through your CEH v11 study guide; dad jokes aside it's been a great read and a boon to me as someone that's been 'stuck' in helpdesk lvl 2/3 positions and have been trying to find a move towards being a jr pen-tester. The barrier to entry to take the CEH exam is definitely daunting, will definitely check out EJPT!

I was doing Pen-200
I got approximately 33% through and the learning style wasn’t great.
I took Unix guys advice and jumped to EJPT. It’s hands on labs for days plus explanation videos.

I’ve learned a lot so far. Out of HTB, Pen-200, CEH study. I say eJPT

@Daniel Lowrie would you say, going through PTS once taking very comprehensive notes, doing the labs mostly on my own and checking solution here and there is ready status for the exam?

That's the stage I'm at now, I wonder if this is a cert where I go through the coursework three or four times, or whether once slowly is good enough

my HR is so old fashioned. they still think that CEH is the only recognized Pentest certification out there.

Great video, thank you! I would definitely go with something practical, such as eJPT. If you were to add OSCP here, how would you compare it? Would it be wise and doable for a beginner with no other certs? Of course, I would be taking the time to do more CTFs and especially the ones from their website maybe.
