Homage to Catalonia – George Orwell / / Folio Society Reviews

Here we have Homage to Catalonia, George Orwell’s personal account of fighting in the Spanish Civil War, first published in 1938, and here published by the Folio Society.

The book is quarter bound in cloth with illustrated cloth sides. The cloth is fairly fine but it feels nice in the hands. The book is printed and bound in Germany, on Abbey Pure Rough paper, which is a very thick and sturdy paper. The text size is medium.

There are 35 black and white photographs integrated in the text. I should also note that the binding is a bit tight, making it a bit hard to open up.

I’ve been considering hunting this one out for a while, but hesitated because I wasn’t sure about the contents. Now that you’ve shared a look between the covers, I know to skip it - I’m fond of illustrations but don’t get too excited for photographs. It looks like a beautiful book, but thank you for saving me from what would have ultimately been disappointment in this particular release!
