ICU RNs Reviewing & Using a 1961 Canada Civil Defence First Aid Kit

As a kit it is great. The gear we would use 63 years alter. Totally cool piece of Cold War history.

Very interesting video. It’s interesting to see what they used back then compared to now. Those old scissors were wild. I have never seen any quite like that.

Mr OSP picked me up a USA Department Of Defense Emergency Shelter Kit. it is huge (a large cardboard box) and has a lot of interesting things in it, certainly very cool jars/bottles/boxes. Most of the items in the kit have a date of 1962, not sure if that is manufacturing date or expiry. I should do a video like this on the kit. If nothing else the bottles and boxes inside are interesting to look over. Unfortunetly it was stored in a barn so it smells mildewy but still cool to check out. Thanks for a look at the past

H.C. and Miss Kitty a very well presented video.
Long live Emperor Wolfie. Cheers, Mate.

The field dressings are similar to the ones that only went out of circulation in the British Army in around 2010. I suspect that is the original colour. Later versions also included a safety pin pack too. Inside the packaging (plastic type base (used as chest seal)).
Lack of burns treatment in there too, wonder what they had back then...flamazine???

Pretty interesting. A bring your own BandAids kit! I guess it makes sense to put in the kit what is most considered to be most useful. Small wounds not important. Life taking wounds simply need to be left go.

What a shelter would hold 300 people or so? One kit might not go far.
