Here are 4 clever hacks to increase your running cadence.
Hack #1: use a metronome. I use a simple app called Soundbrenner.
However, many runners make the mistake of running faster when adjusting to a higher cadence. Remember, you want to take shorter steps, while travelling at the same speed.
Hack #2 is to practice on a treadmill which will keep the speed fixed. Just make sure you keep 1% incline to mimic overground running
Hack #3 is to find a music playlist set to your target cadence. Then just run to the rhythm.
Hack #4 is to pretend you are running in a room with a really low ceiling.
This will reduce your vertical displacement and force you to take shorter steps.
