Physicians rarely ask about the health of your mouth, yet the same blood that goes through any dental infection like gum disease, picks up bacteria and transfers them throughout the entire body, from the heart to the brain. It's time to connect the dots between the mouth and the rest of the body and include the mouth when evaluating a persons illness. Many times the source of the disease is literally right under your nose!

This is so informative. I knew a long time ago you could not brush or floss efficiently in just 2 to 3 mins. I'm very diligent when it comes to my oral health. The whole process takes me at least 15 mins a day. Time stamp: 8:45

I have schizophrenia and flossing helped me immensely with mental pain. And I must brush my teeth after evey meal and before eating breakfast in order to maintain normalcy.

So if dental health is so important to one’s overall health, why isn’t it part of medical insurance? Dental insurance is not offered by many employers & the CHIP program is only if you have neither… makes no sense!

I have been suffering for headache and shoulder pains for a long time. I tried going to different docs and even physical therapist. When I went to my dentist she told me have temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) concern. I had to wear dental splint and bracket for more than a year + sessions with my dentist for therapy. It was clearly a dental concern.

I did enjoy my childhood eating all what I could and not visiting the dentist, one factor is that I was not aware and so is my family. Now, I could barely even imagine how does it feels like to have a good dental health and yet a good mental health. Suffering from dental discomforts everyday, the only time I could rest if I am asleep or I am distracted. What is holding me back to let this be over, not letting me work normally and pressure by expense.

This guy is VERY good at public speaking, he must speak a lot. One of the few public speakers that say funny things during their speech...and it actually be funny! Sounds like a HUGE amount of experience and wisdom behind that voice too...sure wish he were a dentist in Central Kentucky, I'd be at his office!

And why are we not suing all the doctors that have ignored the role of dental health when diagnosing/treating patients??? So frustrating! My mother has horrible dental health and has been on blood pressure meds for half her life and is now diabetic. It’s infuriating.

I just got my wisdom teeth removed and a few other rotten ones! I’m literally laying in my bed wondering why my gut isn’t hurting anymore and why I’m not feeling sick if I don’t drink water every hour! I literally felt healthier after they pulled them out

I am a South African in Sweden for 5 years and I have dentures for almost 8 years. I am not comfortable with them and I am resorting to dental implants for the whole mouth. I have taken a decision to promote mouth and teeth hygien campaign for the less privileged because I know how it is not to have access to tooth brush and tooth paste as a child. I have been there myself and not everyone will have an opportunity to dental implants in future they are not cheap at all.

Babies born in areas of nuclear energy testing and proliferation present with significant primary tooth erosion, and infection that require surgical removal. These same children often develop other debilitating diseases before adulthood. Dental disease is the leading childhood disease in the US.

It just sucks how expensive dental work is, I wish it was on a sliding scale, it's so hard to get work done.
