Dear Cowboy Kent! I made this for supper tonight and my wife and son went absolutely GA GA over it! My wife said this is the best tater soup she's ever had. My son said "It slaps!." whatever that means. He had three bowls. HIGHLY recommended, fellow viewers.

Since I'm lactose intolerant when I make loaded baked potato soup: a trick I learned is potatoes two ways: Half the potatoes are cut thin and boiled until they do dissolve and create its own natural thickness in the broth. THEN add the chunks until they're done and still have some bite. From there I can add cheddar since that has next to no lactose. Of course bacon bits, the fried potato skins, and scallions on top.

I’m watching this in disbelief because as a kid it was russet potatoes cubed and boiled in water just the same as for mashed potatoes, then we salt, pepper onion and sometimes if it was thin we would break up a piece of white bread in it. We were poor man! I will try this recipe some time soon brother!

I always put about 3 lbs of baby reds (leaving half the skin on) coursely chopped, cream, cheddar, sour cream, whipped cream cheese, a stick of butter, caramelized diced onion and thinly sliced celery, green onions, and about a lb and a half of crisp bacon to mine, then season it simply with salt, fresh ground pepper, and smoked paprika.
Just made a big pot for dinner tonight. If I'd seen your video in time, I definitely would have tried the smoked sausage in it!

That's some pretty fancy potato soup. When we were kids, it was potatoes, milk, onion, salt and pepper. Maybe some chives out of the yard. Feed a warm meal to a poor family many times.

I'd always found with loaded potato soups to save what you want crispy and serve it ontop with a bit of extra cheese...it keeps things like bacon crispy and can be mixed in then.

I do the same with my corn chowder where I have crispy bacon for it.

My grandma from the hills of Kentucky used russet potatoes for potato soup. Plus, it was regular milk. Whole milk if I remember correctly. She used russet potatoes for everything.

Just made a batch yesterday actually. cream of potato and cream of chicken soup, bacon, leftover smokies and ground beef with a little bit of cheez whiz and grated sharp cheddar as well as 1 1/2 onions. Doctor with sour cream, chives and grated cheese for serving (also with cornbread I just finished)

For health reasons potatoes aren’t supposed to be a part of my diet, so no baked potatoes for me. I may have to try making this recipe, though, to share with family and as a rare treat for myself. It looks so good!

Thank you Kent for all the salutes to our veterans and 1st responders. It warms this old retired Marine and LEO’s heart to see you do that. I’m headed to the grocery store right now to get the fixin’s and have it for supper. May God bless you and your family. Have a happy and prosperous New Year. Looking forward to many more of your videos. It was for folks like you that I joyfully served.

I made your Loaded Baked Potato Soup recipe on this cold wintry day. I watched your video a few days ago and then printed the recipe to follow while I was cooking. Today I noticed on the printed recipe it does not say to skin the potatoes after baking and I did not see where it says to add the sausage. So I just added them at the end. Your recipe is yummy and filling! Thank you.

I swear that you've probably forgotten more recipes than I've ever even known existed. Keep up the good work, Mr Rollins.

I enjoy a baked potato with the following. Butter, sour cream, tender bacon (not that burnt charcoal) green onions, black olives and sharp cheddar cheese shredded on top! Some time a splash of hot sauce.

"Cowboy Ice Cream" sounds like an awesome brand flavor

Any recipe that starts with bacon grease is a winner. I keep a jar of it on hand at all times.

I could see puttin' a lot of different stuff in a loaded potato soup and you're right about wisconsin. We love our cheese as well as our beer and brats.
