Tips for Winning a Brand Deal on FameBit

FameBit provides a marketplace of brand deals for YouTube creators, but sometimes it can get a bit frustrating to send proposals to brands only to get rejected or never hear back. Adam from FameBit addresses that concern and offers some tips and advice on how to write a proposal to a brand that's more likely to win a brand's attention and money.

FULL DISCLOSURE: While FameBit has done sponsored videos here in the past, this isn't really one of them. I'm simply thanking them for letting me use their lounge space for the Video Creators meetup at VidCon as well as making up for a few sponsored videos I did for them in the past that I felt were sub-par quality.

I've done maybe 10 or more deals with Famebit since January. But I've also done my own brand deals about once a month or more directly. Something I do is send links to relevant videos that match what they'd be looking for. That way they can see what I have to offer instead of randomly going across videos in my channel.

I love Famebit! I have gotten several sponsorships from them and Adam is right, you have to research the company and add that in the proposal. It always helps!

bwt I've applied to about 50 sponsorships and have gotten 8 of those deals.  One deal even reconsidered me after i applied 3 months prior and gave me a sponsorship. I just applied to 7 more today if I don't get any of them I usually take a step back for a week or so and try again fresh at the beginning of the week to apply! Don't get discouraged theres a deal out there for all types of people you have to make the brand see that you are what they are looking for.

Famebit has been very good to me.  I have learned a lot working through their platform.  The one thing that has really helped a lot is leaving a link in my proposal to a private playlist that has all of my sponsored videos.  This way the sponsors can see my style and if they like it they will know what to expect.  I also find that, just like there are a lot of "new" Youtubers on Famebit, there are a lot of new sponsors who are testing the waters.  When I see this, I often will reach out to them and let them know that I am happy to work with them to get their message across and that I am happy to help them understand how Famebit works.  This has helped me to forge some nice relationships with sponsors because they know that I will work with them.  After all, they are going to pay me to do what they want.  So I am happy to share my knowledge with them.  It is a win win situation!

My very first sponsored video was with famebit and I have to say that I really enjoyed the experience. Way to go, Adam!

What Adam said is SO true! I can really tell brands appreciate it when you take the time to learn about them and what makes them unique. Also, I think it's important to really convey how you can add value. Coming from a smaller channel, this is so important. My numbers don't speak for themselves quite yet, so being specific in terms of why a sponsorship is a good match for my audience is something I always try to do.

Lol, I think I was the guy Adam mentioned in the beginning. I was talking with him about my first time experience with a Famebit sponsor. It was for a coffee company and right off the bat in my proposal I told them I was a coffee snob, even mentioning I have videos of how to roast your own green coffee beans at home. Adam was right, do some research on the product let them know that you would be excited to showcase their product.

I've always done that when applying for a job ... know as much as you can about the company.  Everyone likes to hear nice things about themselves, so if you are telling them to hire you because THEY are awesome ... chances are higher that you'll get the gig.  Love these collab videos ... they really help me to figure out if I'm on the right track as I get closer to being able to get my Famebit account!

Wow! What synchronicity in WHAT to say to a potential sponsor in correspondence. When we reached out to our first and only sponsor, we had just over 300 subs on our BEAP YT Channel, so we knew we had to write a good proposal. We ended up researching their company, what they stand for, what their contribution is, and what they offer. After being clear on what THEY would want, we decided what we would offer them and used their language to tell that story of our potential future relationship together. We were sure to show the mutually beneficial nature of the relationship. We also included our Social Media stats (views, reach, audience demographics, which platforms we use).

Their first email back to us sealed the deal! WOOT!

It ended up not being paid, but it was a 10-Day Road Trip across Ecuador where they gave us a 4x4 Jeep Wrangler and paid for our hotels and paid for about 50% of our meals. This was HUGE! They even threw in a drone for us to take with us to film the excursions with from above!

Our advice is to BE authentic on what YOU will do for a potential sponsor, not just what you want them to do for you... Put the sponsor FIRST and paint a picture with how you stand apart from others.

We are sooo appreciative to you, Tim @VideoCreators, for being the guide for us in our channel's growth! Your program, Video Labs, has helped us to get clear and BE more effective every day with the content we're creating so we can spread our message that will help others all over the world to BE where they want, when they want!

I just got my first deal a few days ago! So exited because it was an item I really wanted to try. I also recommend what he mentioned. Check out the website and learn a little about the company and the product and mention it in the proposal so they see you understand the product and a little about what the goal of the company is.

I make about $500 a month off of Famebit.  I probably heard about it 4 months ago.  It is a worthwhile company... but it is very competitive.

My best tip: Look at yourself as a product you are trying to sell. (or your videos/other creations) Accept that you are now a saleshuman ^^ So get sales training, learn how to sell sell sell! You can find an immense amount of free training here on Youtube. Not to mention the rest of the internet! Most importantly, have fun! Love, Ash

from what I hear, brands on Fame bit are highly under priced(except if it's a full review video) I make around 100, 000 or more views on every videos but brands on there want to only pay around $500 for shout outs

It's difficult because there isn't a ton of variety. I'm sure that will change in the future as Famebit expands and more brands advertise on there, but for now it only seems like certain genres are advertsied.

How should you know if you should ask to be paid or just ask for free product?  A lot of times I would just like free product or a free service and I would be happy to promote them.

OK, I negotiated for 4 brands and was accepted when I first signed on to FameBit.  Derral Eves used me as an example for his training.  I've continued to follow the same plan and have submitted so many with not as much as a counter offer.  So, I've just backed off and from time to time I check to see if there's anything interesting for my channel.  I'll keep submitting proposals only on products that are a good fit with my channel and we'll see what happens...patti

Do Cell Phone views and Smart TV views count as views on YouTube?
