The part that sucks is that he withdrew from his PhD program. That shows how dedicated he is to Survivor.

The man actually BIT A SHARK after it bit him, that ALONE should have gotten him back on season 40.

It’s absurd that the first winner ever isn’t going to be on the show.

Still gutted. If there was a season for the original winner to return on, its this one. Hopefully they do a legends season or something that will give Richard a 3rd apperance he is long overdue for

Here's my IF the "Dan situation" wouldn't have happened, we would have seen you on S40.

At 5:07 Rich makes a fantastic observation that he himself downplays in this video.

In Season 6, 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙫𝙤𝙧: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙢𝙖𝙯𝙤𝙣, there is an episode titled: “Girls Gone Wilder” (a reference to ‘Girls Gone Wild, ’ an adult entertainment franchise that produced over 300 adult films of young women from 1997-2011) where two young female contestants (one of whom is just 18) tell host Jeff Probst that they will strip if he can get them peanut butter and chocolate. Rob C., a male contestant, jokingly pleads with Jeff to fulfill the girls’ request. Next thing viewers see is Jeff bringing out a plate of peanut butter and Oreos goading the girls on. Not only do the girls take their tops off, they also lower their bikini bottoms to their ankles showing everything—not just their breasts.

Jeff Probst played a part in literally manipulating the situation behind-the-scenes to get two young women, one who was barely legal, to show it all. As Rich states at 6:42, the hypocrisy from Jeff is ridiculous. The show benefited and profited from these nude scenes that were considered “family friendly” back when they aired; Now Jeff is trying to rewrite reality after initially profiting from the show’s openness with nudity.

Hatch is not mentioning that Sue Hawk accused him of sexual harassment in Survivor All Stars, & pulled out of the game because of it. It wasn't his nudity in the first show that was the issue.

I’m a recent survivor fan who went back and watched your season. The way you figured out a winning strategy without ever having seen the game played before was incredible. You’re truly one of the greats it’s a huge loss not having you on season forty

WOW, we almost had Richard in season 40. I wanted him to be there so bad after I saw that we would have an all winners season ... What a shame.

Richard makes a lot of great points, especially in regards to the differences between nudity and sexual harassment.

HOWEVER, I really don't think he should so easily overlook the incident that occurred with Sue Hawk in All Stars. Maybe since it was so long ago, not as many people remember, but it was a MASSIVE deal and is probably the closest thing to sexual harassment that the show has seen (at least until the S39 issues)

CBS and production had to pay Sue Hawk a private settlement due to the incident that happened at the challenge, and I'm sure that it was THAT that had made the executives question Hatch coming back. If they had to do any sort of settlement for Dan/Kelly, they may be thinking, "Hm, should we really open ourselves back up to the possibility of legal action, just to have the original winner on?"

I can't be the only one that could see EVERY morning news outlet playing the Sue Hawk explosion from All-Stars and the Kelly confessional from S39, talking about how the show has actually done nothing to change its ways.

At 5:20 those girls VOLUNTEERED to take their clothes off if the chocolate and peanut butter were provided. Jeff did not specifically ask them.

The irony of this is that every player has been and will be playing your strategy

It is truly absurd that you are not on this season. Agree and sorry that they did this to you.

It was crushing to hear that you were removed from this cast. You and Tina deserved to be out there. I cant wait to hear your thoughts on the season as its airing at some point, either on here, or RHAP or something.

Well, Matt, I’m happy to address the “Sue Hawk” situation, and I will do so in an upcoming video. Then, perhaps, you will address the Matt Barber situation in which you and others like you pretend they know things they are outright imagining without putting any critical thought into their perspectives.
I spent an entire season on Survivor with Sue during which she and I were both often naked. Further the woman was more crude and sexually explicit with me about her sex life than any woman had ever been. Oh, and did you forget I’m gay and have never had any sexual interest in women? Those are some of the things that should have made you skeptical of salacious reporting. Things you probably don’t know include the fact I was voted off the show and unaware of Sue’s claims made after I’d left. Further, Sue has informed multiple people she knew she couldn’t win and planned to figure out a way to extort CBS. Add to that, we all (Sue included) watched the unedited footage from all four cameras showing how she turned around in the challenge to intentionally instigate interaction with me, and I NEVER touched her or anyone else - despite the salacious reporting and false claims. So your contention I ever did something to her or anyone else is ignorant and inappropriate. Had you interest in sharing an opinion, it would be helpful to learn more about what is true before acting like the typical ignorant bully your comments make you sound like.

It’s a shame that Richard hatch isn’t in 40. imagine if he came full circle and won 1 and 40. Omg that would be survivor history. Tina Wesson should have come back too. These people are survivor history

I was a 5 year old kid living in Australia when I watched the first season of survivor, I’ve watched every episode of every season since then, including Marquesas which didn’t air in Australia at the time.
I’ve always told everyone that will listen that Richard Hatch is still one of the greatest players of all time who put survivor on the map and played a game that transcends survivor eras, he could play in any season and do well and not having him on an all winners season is one of the biggest travesties the show has ever seen.

Thanks for everything Hatch and thanks for making so many people fall in love with a show that has become such a great part of our lives.

You mentioned the stripping for peanut butter incident on Survivor Amazon. One of those girls, Jenna Morasca, went on to win that season, and like you, will not be on Season 40. I have some issue with how you characterized this incident. What made the air, and has been backed up by interviews and I believe Rob Cesternino's podcast, was Jeff Probst mentioning how temptations would be offered. Jenna specifically wanted chocolate and peanut butter, and SHE was the one who offered to take her clothes off for those items with Heidi chiming in too. This does not sound like Jeff "challenging" them to get naked. Yes, he provided the temptation they wanted (almost... Oreos instead of chocolate), but you make it sound like Probst initiated this incident by daring them to get naked. I think this is an important distinction.

Richard Hatch and Rudy: my two first favourite Survivors! Childhood memories! Hope to see Rich on a future season again.

I wonder if Jeff would describe the peanut butter incident as "kinda being inappropriate"
