Congrats on filming yourself committing a felony! Straw purchases have been illegal for quite a long time now. :)

Comedian Shows it's Easier to Commit a Felony than Get a Fishing License
I would also like to point that the gun free utopia of Mexico is only a few hours drive from Nevada.
How wonderful it would be to live someplace with perfect gun control.

Buying a gun is a Constitutionally protected right and he did a background check, why is this even a video?

This is definitely a felony. Textbook straw purchase right there. It's a red zip tie running through the barrel and action... it's a real gun.

This was a straw purchase, a felony. Not an example of "easier to buy a gun, " it's an example of being a criminal. Forwarding the link to my local BATFE office.

He compared two things of a different category man, they said it's easier to get a gun than a fishing license, well duh your at a gun show where they sell guns to almost anyone. It's not easier to get a gun than a fishing pole, and it's not easier to get a gun license than a fishing license

I will wait patiently for this guy to be prosecuted for the straw purchase he just did.

What he did is the very definition of the a "straw purchase". He knew he couldn't buy a pistol and had his friend do it for him. The purchaser just committed a felony (which is already a law btw) and should be charged. The purchaser had to fill out a 4473 form and go thru a background check just like everyone else who buys a gun for a dealer. Sad that this kinda crap passed for "Media" these days.

I am so impressed with how many lawyers there are on YouTube!

It would have been a straw purchase if Brent gave me the gun - which he did not. He kept it, and it's still legally in his possession in Nevada.

The point of the video is that, under the current regulations, all someone in has to do to get a gun is lie on a form. However, if guns were registered (like houses, cars, and animals), straw purchases would be impossible.

For those so offended by my alleged straw purchase in the video, you should be at the forefront of encouraging laws that actually prevent them from happening.

It's a right to have a gun, so why should it be hard to get one?

If only they would prosecute these guys.

Hmmmm dog in a restaurant or gun in a restaurant. Do we really have to think about this? I don't care how clean you think your dog is, no one wants a dog next to their food. Just like I'm sure you don't want the chefs in the back cooking in their underwear.

Steve Hofstetter and “Brent” recorded themselves committing a felony criminal act. What they just did is completely illegal. Just because they are ignorant of the law does not grant them immunity from it. Nevada does have their own Straw Purchasing law. This is a great example of people being useful idiots.

Steve Hofstetter is a resident of California and the purchase was made in Nevada.
0:15 “I clearly did not have (Neveda) state ID.”
0:27 “I found a gun for about $300…Then he (Brent) bought the gun, with my money.”

Steve’s friend “Brent” agreed to purchase the gun as he is a resident of the State of Nevada and thus can take delivery on the spot. The seller ran a background check on the purchaser “Brent”, who passed and then knowingly purchased the firearm with the intent of doing to for his friend, Steve Hofstetter.

Steve Hofstetter says: “you get the steakhouse tonight, I’ll cover it.” While it may not be entirely clear to the seller, Steve and Brent are making a straw purchase. Brent signed BATFE paperwork form 4473 stating that he was the actual buyer of the firearm when he was not, Steve Hofstetter was. This firearm was not a gift by the recordings of both Steve Hofstetter and Brent.

The firearm would need to be transferred to Steve Hofstetter through an ffl in the State of California which (most likely) did not happen.

It way easier to get a gun than your favorite toy.

I hope this guy gets busted for a straw sale. Just because they say it wasn't, does not absolve them.

This proves a great point instead of making more laws why not prosecute with the ones on the books now like this straw purchase?

For once I agree with this gun control topic, we should prosecute those who have done criminal activities when buying guns. According with the Law, Comedian Steve and his friend committed a straw purchase. I say, the Nevada PD arrest him and his friend, use this video as evidence and seek the maximum sentence for doing a straw purchase.

So the moral of the story is it's quicker to kill a human being then to kill a fish.

I think this is a poor video. It's not the gun that's dangerous, it's the person behind the gun

You do realize you just video taped yourself making a draw purchase... Which is a felony with up to 10 years in jail, I wonder what would happen if the authorities got this video.... Good luck
