If she was involved, it was her fault. If she wasn't involved, it was her fault. She was responsible for the weapon. Like you said, she was responsible for checking. She basically cannot deny involvement. She was the armorer. She was involved, even if she wasn't.

This is truly an Occam's Razor situation. Several crew members have said the guns were use for target shooting during down-time (lunches and such). The simplest explanation is that the gun was used and wasn't properly cleared before coming back into service as a prop.

The fault lies with two people: The armorer who didn't do her job and check the guns, and the AD who declared to the set at large that it was a 'cold gun' without verifying that for himself. Note that the armorer didn't make that announcement. It appears the AD never asked her.

Literally the only way this can be Bladwin’s fault and not her own is if he took the firearm from her hands and put a bullet in the gun and shot the director.
And since there are witnesses than can attest that this is not how it happened - all fault lies with the armorer.
You explained this very well. Cheers.

Honestly, the term "Depraved Heart Murder" is raw as hell.

Gun elves could come every night and load every gun with live rounds, the armorer's job is to check each gun before and after each use. You can't trust anyone else.

This wasn't a situation where someone did something wrong.
It was a situation where nobody did anything right.

"Probably not the legal defence she thinks it is, " sums up the majority of what people say concerning cases they're involved in.

My high school theater prop supervisor didn't even let props go unmonitored. Literally a small knife used to cut an apple in a scene. She never let it leave her sight. She would yell at you if you stood in front of her and blocked her line of sight. Chain of custody will get her in the end.

The problem is the only way someone could 'sabotage' the gun would be if she didn't do her job.

I'd also like to remind people, scarface had dozens of guns with hundreds of blanks going off at the same time without incident due to safety standards and measures and protocols, and ever since the brand lee incident those safety measures and protocols were tightened and enforced which has lead to basically no accidents since (except maybe one or two when blanks were fired too close to someone). Hell even all the john wick movies put together have more guns and blanks and bullets than most all of the old war and western movies combined, and yet they didn't have an incident.

Her ENTIRE REASON FOR BEING THERE was to make sure something like this doesn’t happen. Her JOB was to check, triple check, and check immediately before the shot was done. Cherry on top is something similar has happened elsewhere the woman has worked. So this isn’t her first time NOT DOING HER JOB.

As a gunsmith and firearms expert. The gun was her responsibility. She got the job because her father had been a hollywood armorer for decades. Nepotism strikes again, she had no formal training, no formal education, no history in the industry.

I am not a lawyer but I am a former armorer, former actor, with tactical training and firearm training. I concur with Legal Eagle from the other side of the equation. Whether that claim a true or not has zero effect on her responsibility towards controlling the environment of the firearm. The very point of having an armorer is to remove the effects of possible negligence or sabotage.

I used to work in a warehouse with a lot of machinery, and my old sup used to tell us this, "complacency will always lead to injury"

It was LITERALLY HER JOB, she did not do her job.

When a negligent discharge results in death, it almost always means that multiple safety precautions have been violated.
It's possible, even probable, that more than one person was at fault.

Honestly I kind of doubt that it was sabotage... This set had a lot of problems that make it seem like it was just negligence/a mistake. This whole accusation of sabotage has my hackles up, feels like she's about to blame the union workers or something as a scapegoat. Frankly, regardless of whether it was sabotage or not, there are safeguards in place to prevent this sort of thing. Normally multiple people are checking the weapon's rounds, including the person handing the gun to the actor directly.

God, I’m just glad people stopped calling it a “prop gun.”

First things first... When you're dealing with weapons the only people that handle the weapon on a set is the armorer (any of the armorer's assistants IF THE THEY HAVE ONE) and the talent. And the armorer is supposed to hand the weapon to the talent, even going as far as loading the weapon in front of the talent. This was a haphazard mess at best.

This whole situation is just incredibly screwed up
