What an unbelievably superb pianist and pedagogue Sir Andras Schiff His gentle caring manner with students is both enlightening and charming What a nice man he is I would give my all to have Sir Andras Schiff as my Piano Teacher What an enlightened musician he is His knowledge of harmonics technique and orchestral voicing is incredible Itai Navin is an excellent pianist for his age

I absolutely love the parts where Sir Andras Schiff plays together with the accompanist. Someway they connect with each other. I bet he really enjoyed playing with mister Schiff.

I miserably failed as a school age piano student. Hahahaha. I just love watching these and listening to such wonderfully talented young people, and the wonderfully generous and gentle expert guidance of a master.

Hugely impressed with this student and his openhearted willingness to learn. His 8 part voicing of the opening chord was masterful. Sir András’ “Bravo!” was genuine.

Thank you for posting this invaluable document. It is wonderful to hear and see the mind of such a great artist at work and in tuition. It’s also gratifying to have demonstrated to me why it is I am drawn to such pieces like the Schubert sonata in G.

Please would the Buchmann-Mehta school invest in hands-free microphones for the artist giving the master class?
Having to carry these large hand microphones gets in the way of the teacher's face, and also makes it impossible to give demonstrations with more than one hand.
There is a ridiculous example in a recent class where Olga Scheps was trying to get rid of the microphone by passing it from one hand to the other.
Such an easy thing to fix.

I never knew Schiff hated Czerny that much. On almost every masterclass he brought the name Czerny for too "mechanical" playing. But this masterclass was very beautiful. Love the teaching

This boy is not prepared at all for that Concerto. He plays it like a beutiful Czerny etude.

thank you...what a master class..." the secret is in the breathing...some notes are more important than others...too mechanical, not musical...this is good but is not beautiful...you know it but you are not aware of it...you are in automatic pilot...you played too much czerny, this is not dedicated yo is too pretty, this is blood.... make it easy...and with the pizzicato then it breaks the heart...all great composers have a natural feeling for proportion"

Itai forgot to give some credit to the orchestra piano at the applause. Andras of course tried to correct that. But if Itai continue to treat his musical colleagues like that, his career could be short....
