It was thought that Zheng He (1371-1435)'s treasure ships were massive, up to 100m long. By comparison, the ships of the Portuguese explorer, Ferdinand Magellan (1480-1521) was a puny 21m long.

Wow, China is going to bring back a Chinese ship that has been sunk for more than 800 years ago during the Song Dynasty. China has been trading and sailing in the South China Sea for thousands of years and undoubtedly there are many treasures on the sea bed waiting to be discovered.

Fascinating, I had not heard of this project and museum before! Given the thousands of years of Chinese maritime history there must be incredible treasures on innumerable sunken ships, thank you for this video!

I went to visit a display at the National Geographic Center on DC with these ships and I was in awe at the size of these ships

Very informative. I heard of the museum long time ago, but have never been there. Maoming...Yanjiang...I bet your next stop is Kaiping for the world heritage Diaolou.

Unbelievable what China is capable of. When it is deemed important enough. Everyone else just talks about what they are capable of doing. China just does it. Then talk about it.
