My son currently serves on a submarine and loves it. I not a fan of not being able to reach him for long periods of time but it’s what comes with his job and I understand. Very proud of the hard work and dedication that he and all the other people that serve our country do.

I love all the people in the comments supporting loved ones who serve the seas. Endless thanks to the US Navy and coast guard for keeping our seas safe.

Been there Done that. I did 6 years on two boomers, I did this in the 70's. When you go through the job training ( about 1 year in my case) they make sure you can handle serving on a boat. Once you get the boat you go through qualification and are still tested to see if you can handle it. (That also take about a year). Once you get your dolphins (Submarine Warfare Badge) you have proven yourself.

I had a very good friend who served 20 years in the Navy on subs most of it. Soon as he retires he gets cancer and passed away. Great dude too, sad stuff RIP Scott Moore! Truly world class person, the earth was a better place with him in it.

Around 2-1/4 hours into this production, you speak of the US lacking the ability to rapidly deploy large numbers of troops and equipment, and you're obviously missing the simple fact that for many decades, America's Guard of Honor, The All American 82nd Airborne Division, (The world's largest Rapid Deployment Force) is capable at any time, 24/7/365, to deploy an entire brigade of well over 6, 000 Paratroopers plus all of their needed equipment, supplies, vehicles, and ammunition, well within 18 hours to anyplace on the Planet.
I know this for a fact, being a Veteran 🇺🇸🫡🇺🇸 of that elite Division.
Get your facts straight 😂

My dad served on the Boxer during the Korean War. Not a submarine. I just wanted to brag about him because I miss him so much!

Did the narrator say that the British was upset because we preferred Coca-Cola over tea? That was about 20 seconds

I've done it. Not a fan but honestly best part time job with full time pay I ever worked.

Agreed, unless you're a US Submariner. NEVER underestimate a Sailor who served aboard a Submarine .

😅 whoever wrote this had to have served. I'm retired mmn1/ss and I can attest that this person's cynicism, sense of irony, and morbid humor are how we survived our multiple 6 month deployments on the Springfield and the Dallas (Nr1 was a different attitude)

I'm a 27 year Navy veteran and I had no interest in being a submariner. The ships and Carriers (Nimitz, Ronald Reagan) were my "cup of tea" loved the Nimitz my first assignment on the Nimitz was amazing the Ship had been commissioned only one year prior so she was new but had two 6 month runs/ "Shake downs" so the Nimitz was cruising along like the finest "Rolls Royce" I was fortunate and blessed to serve on her.

As retired army, we always called submariners canned squid.😊
But I would not do it
No way

As a previous sailor that served aboard submarines in the last decade some of the "life on board a sub for 90 days" isn't quite correct. I would be happy to give more information if @infographics ever wanted some more info

I was like "I'll watch the sub video before I go to work" got 15 minutes in and checked the progress bar and timer like D= no way I'm able to finish this today! 😂❤

I have to correct this. Hunt for Red October was a modified Typhoon Class Sub, not an Akula.

Barotrauma was such a good game they made submarines real!

I was on a submarine for a little while as a midshipman. Submariners are by far the most intelligent people on the planet. Given there is no way to reach outside support underwater, submariners have to know how to repair everything from plumbing, electrical, water, oxygen production, and even nuclear reactors. All this, on top of managing op tempo for months at a time on top secret missions. Much respect.
