The Intel Arrow Lake review is finally here. Let's go through gaming benchmarks, real world performance, power consumption, temperatures and more for the Ultra 9 285K vs Ryzen 9 9950X, 9900X and the Ultra 5 245K vs the Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X. According to Intel, these won't be the best CPUs for gaming but they might do really well in other tasks. But does that make the Ultra 9 285K and Ultra 5 245K worth it?

Over the course of testing, we were in contact with a number of reviewers who asked us about stability with 24H2. With our setup using the firmware / BIOS listed at 3:12 of the video, we had one of the smoothest experiences with a pre-launch platform we've ever encountered. It seems like other folks (many who were using MSI motherboards) experienced nightmares. Guess that's another reason to recommend you skip Arrow Lake for now. :(

basicaly every cpu is cooked until the 9800X3D, then every cpu will be even more cooked

I own the 265K for a week ( Made in Vietnam - leaked a bit earlier ) having replaced my i9-13900K (hot running) and can’t be more satisfied.
CPU temperature dropped from 55-65 average to 38-45 average
PSU consumption dropped from +300W to an average of 130-180W
Fans run at 40% of power, can’t hear my rig even - totally quiet.
Yes- I am a believer through usage. this is a good release

Wonderful even handed review. Great suite of tests, great explanations and stellar visual data that can be parsed at a glance.

whoever creates 3D V-Cache probably get instant promotion and paycheck increase at AMD everytime intel release new CPU generation

I would love to see the 5800X3D in the gaming charts, maybe you can include it in the upcoming reviews for the 9800X3D.

great video, fair and on point - ALK wins some and loses some. Let's wait what next - could take two more years till the Unified core is ready.

Thank you very much for the Houdini benchmark you did, I was looking everywhere for a comparison like it!
Even more real-world 3D apps results would be amazing!

Brilliant video, my favorite of all the ones I've seen covering this launch.

Specially for these graphs
03:20
04:05

They condense the information nicely.

It would have been great to see similar metrics for overall productivity, though measuring that is trickier.
Additionally, it would be valuable to include power and temperature data when the system is idle.

Just meteor lake and then Lunar lake, Arraow lake and Zen 5 seems to be focusing more on effiency for Server/Laptops market.

I wonder if a lot of the gaming performance results comes from an unoptimized scheduler from windows 11. if AMD gained 10% in a windows update it’s gonna be interesting to see if ms and intel will keep pushing updates that makes the cores work as intended for their respective tasks

Good to see competition again, good for us consumers

I see what you did Mike. Talking about Intel doing a reset while wearing a NES shirt. I miss gaming systems having that.

I have been using Intel since the 80286 😂. I always upgrade to the top of the line and that lasts me easily 3 years, when I get the itch to upgrade. Arrow Lake did the job and made me switch to AMD. New CPU arriving Monday. Some of the reasons: 1851 is likely a single generation socket, cudimm prices limited capacity and availability, disappointing performance. Efficiency is something people expect for free, not at the cost of performance. Hope they can recover, but with the problems in the previous generations and now the lackluster performance of Arrow Lake it may be an institutional issue… which creates additional concerns. Past results are not true predictors, but they are the best indicators of future performance, and Intel seems to be facing an uphill battle to a return to grace.

Yes……..your power consumption is incorrect. It uses power at the 24 pin also (60 to 70 watts additional)

Just shows how good the 7800x3d is for gaming, at insanely low power levels as well. With good cooling, undervolting and PBO it's even better. For simulator games its a must.
