Hearing Vars lose his mind at the damage of Briar’s E is like hearing a teacher swear in class

Id argue that Kled also falls under the berserker archetype. Theres no canceling your ultimate, you are going to the end and if you lock on to a champion, you are going to hit that champion no matter the danger. Then, once you take enough damage to fall off of Skarl you are basically forced to keep fighting to get Skarls courage back or die trying, as you are too slow to run away from enemies with any reliability. Sure youve technically got the self knockback from your pistol, but even then you are encouraged to get right into an enemies face with it to hit as many pellets as possible.

Briar is what you get when you max out all your favorite stats and ignore everything else in character creation

Warwick is a berserker too. Any WW main can tell you the unspoken rule: if you smell a target below 25% HP, you have no choice but to ult them from 2 screens away.

I LOVE the design and abilities, a self berserking champion with lifesteal is what I’ve been saying Olaf should have been ever since I found him years ago, I just hate how she can’t be played in lane because of just how low her sustain outside of lifesteal is. If any champ will push me to learn jg it’s her.

I managed to play her for a while in PBE. Her kit is VERY strong, but the huge problem is that she is actually very weak currently but while also being very stat checky. Her base stats are atrocious, like pre-6 Kayle level bad. The problem arises if she gets fed, which is more likely to happen as a jungle than a laner. If Briar is behind, her base stats make her feel so much weaker than literally anybody else, but if she manages to get ahead she stat checks everyone one-sidedly into oblivion extremely hard. It's feast or famine in a Kayle-level of intensity where she either is useless or 1 v 9's due to the discrepancy between horrific base numbers and how absurdly strong her kit is. She really is going to bounce 55% and 45% WR's back and forth since it varies based simply on if her base stats are buffed or not in a given patch.

Her Ult also alerts everyone in range so if you suspect that it's going towards you, you can easily move

Here we are 2 months later and we are on nerf 5 and she still has a 54% win rate

I like how this champion (mostly) doesn’t feel overly designed. Akshan is the best example of this in recent years, but a lot of new champions feel designed to play perfectly in LoL in 202X without anything special going on, making them all feel weirdly samey. They’re jam packed with QOL passives and stuff that makes the champion “just work” whereas with briar they actually seemed to make a reasonably janky character with drawbacks.

For self inflicted cc, champ who create terrain can technically knockback themselves, bard can stasis himself.
And stasis is technically a hard cc

Something I find interesting about her passive and the lack of health regen is that it's actually relevant for items, too. Take Heartsteel for example, it has +200% Base Health Regen... which on Briar is 200% of 0, so you still don't regen any health from it. Any items with health regen do nothing for her (at least in that context), it has to be an actual healing passive like a Warmog's when over the bonus health threshold.
If I'm not mistaken, this is unique to her? Both Vlad and Zac have a base health regen, so they can still build regen items to have some (slow) sustain without entering combat. Briar is the only one in the game with an actual 0 for that value.

What makes Briar so broken isn't only her insane damage. Her E makes engaging on her impossible. Meaning she's super hard to punish unless she ints with her W

Great video as usual Vars, but i'd like to make a suggestion. I think you should make a video about boots, going through the history of the item and how it changed so much through the years, why does it have to be in almost every single game, etc. I think this item is great designed and also an iconic mechanic in the game, really worth to get a video just for itself.
