Awesome lesson. Playing worship music is where my heart is. Your statement early in the video speaks volumes about you as an artist/guitar player. It's not about us, but about God whom we are worshipping. Your teaching style is so good. It truly inspires me as a beginning player. Thank you for all your doing to bring these videos to us. It's not boring! Love your channel and looking forward to watching more. God bless!

After 10+ years of playing, jazz school, and guitar YouTube consumption this is some of the best teaching I’ve come across. Huge Kudos bro!!

You probably took some basic concepts, widely known in music theory, but explained them in such a way that made them so easy to understand and use for everybody! You forever changed my way of playing! Thank you so much!

CJ, this lesson is a gem for me. I’m 71 and many of the triad lessons have music theory tied to them, and it’s very confusing to me. You make it super simple because I have learned open chord shapes by memory, so with your triad lesson, I can do the same. I memorize positions rather than notes on each string if that makes sense. I look forward to discovering the triads in each key. Thank you!

I have been playing both electric and acoustic guitars since 2018 and learning. I've played classic rock and country with some bluegrass. I was asked to play with a praise group and not real familiar with the genre. The gentleman who asked me to play with his group is a huge help and your videos are dovetailing nicely with this opportunity.
I am very new to playing contemporary Christian music and stumbled upon your videos. You are a super teacher. Thank you

Last time I played on a Sunday morning. The melody was played mostly from the piano. So on the chorus I just hung on one chord. The bass was playing the changes, the piano the melody and I just kind of cross picked one chord the whole time, It sounded amazing. The ringing notes really added to the song. Simple supports the song,

I love triads, they took me a while to nail them down, using them, in so many ways, I had never considered just staying on the G for the Em.. Glad I watched..

This is simply brilliant. As a long-time acoustic player and a relative newbie to electric, I realise that playing fewer notes at once is where it's at. Thank you.

This is very good video in utilizing voice leading with the I triad. I'm glad I have decent understanding of triads already though and I would recommend someone new to know how major and minor triads are built first. The actual Em is easy enough to play by just putting the pinky down on the 2nd string fifth fret when in the G triad position to create the real Em triad (E, G, B) even if just intermittently for improvisation.

That 4 chord was implied with by putting the pinky on the fourth note of the G scale (3rd string/5th fret) but is actually a Csus2 triad (1, 2, 5/C, D, G), which some people may not realize. It actually sounds more ambient instead of playing the actual C major triad (1, 3, 5) but knowing how triads are built can give a better understanding of what is being played and then alterations can be made for variety.

I think learning how to build maj (1, 3, 5) and min (1, b3, 5) triads are essential first and then it's easy to play extensions when you know the intervals of each triad. That D add 11 triad is super pretty, which is new to me but know the full chord, which is one of my favourite.

Learning some practical theory the last couple years has really been eye opening and allowed me to understand what I was playing in order to improvise better. I think it has served me better to know the differences and allowed me to grow more as a guitarist.

Brother, It is obvious from what you say around 17:40 ff - "boring" etc that you have a pastor's heart with what you do. I haven't seen much of that in the electric guitar/lead guitar tutorials. Please be encouraged and please continue. This was a great video. God Bless. Subscribed and bell'd
