Of course, I understand that my thoughts and what I think do not affect who she is! But after all these years, she is like a granddaughter to me. Angelina is a master at this. Then, of course, she has a huge toolbox with various voice tricks to pick out if she wants! Angelina doesn't focus on showing off with spectacular high or long notes etc! Unless it is required to convey a feeling to the listener. She doesn't belong to the type of singer who "look at me singing"

Angelina decides for herself. When it comes to the actual training and choice of songs etc., it has always been Angelina who made all the choices and decisions. Parents and others, on the other hand, have asked her to take it a little easier sometimes. Angelina is very special and her own driving force. Ever since she was 3-4 years old! Of course, all relatives and frends, have helped and protected her. Angelina and her closest, decided early on that she would have as normal a childhood as possible. Even when she won NGT, 8 years old, many wanted to sign a contract. Everyone was dismissed! And this Norwegian girl sings in English! Do you know that she speaks several languages. Angelina's parents were not singers. There is a clip of her singing Whitney in her crib at 18 months, holding a mic. She got her inspiration from her Grandma Mery, who was from Iran and a child prodigy in art and poetry. She is the one Angelina gets all her inspiration from. She speaks Norwegian, English, Farsi (grandma Mery) a little Japanese (Mery's husband was Japanese, and the song "Million Miles" that Angelina wrote is dedicated to him after he passed away) and she also speaks some Swedish from her father. She plays guitar, piano, and I'm also told flute and violin.
Actually, she was 7 when she entered "Norway's Got Talent" and had just turned 8 when she won it all. If you would like a list I have compiled of what I feel are 'not to be missed' songs, with the age when she sang them, they are posted below.

*Why Angelina always performs barefoot*

At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.

Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.

Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. What a lovely reaction of 3 gens. Angelina was 8 here which was the age she won the Norway got talent competition. She was 7 when she auditioned for the show. Angelina is the first in her family to sing. Parents had other occupations. Her uncle, her manager, is who helped her get around the industry and a special lady and mentor her grandmother Mery Zamani who is also a prodigy, poet and artist introduced Angelina to Jazz. The look on you'll faces was priceless, hope to see more of these reactions and your journey down this rabbit hole.

Regarding fame and celebrity: There are many examples of children who became famous at a young age. Sometimes some of these have had difficulties later in life! Angelina's family wants Angelia to have a normal upbringing and be a child and teenager like everyone else. When Angelina is off from school, she has performed in tons of shows all over the world. Most were charity shows for children. Angelina has lived in several countries and traveled a lot during her upbringing. She is well aware of the different conditions that exist in different countries! Angelina and her family have turned down many who wanted to sign a contract with her. But at 14 yo, she signed on for the Republic record. The condition of this contract is that Angelina and her family decide when it is time to promote her fully.

As others have said, no singers or musicians in her family which makes what she can do even more remarkable. She is basically self taught and studied the jazz greats from YouTube videos starting at about 2 or 3. From what I understand she’s never had any formal vocal training or a vocal coach. In school she learned music theory and song construction. The vocal help she got was mainly to help her protect her voice.
She was actually 7 at her Norway’s Got Talent audition. The pace of her singing development is incredible. Her Gloomy Sunday audition was filmed about November 2013 (aired on TV early 2014). Her recording of I Put a Spell On You, which you reacted to, was from about March 2015 when she was 9, less than a year and a half after Gloomy Sunday. This appearance on the View was in between. Has Lulu seen I Put a Spell On You? If not she should check it out.
What musical talent she did inherit is probably her lyric writing ability as her maternal grandmother was a child prodigy in art and poetry.

Hi ladies, Miss Angelina practices since age 3, 5 her craft, almost daily. She is convinced, that she has to sing to the people for peace in the world. Around 2 months after her winning NORWAY GOTS TALENT, the people of Norway declared Miss Angelina Jordan Astar their National Treasure. A humble being herself, she says that she is just a normal girl, but musicians that worked with her praised her uncanny sence for music. If Miss Angelina asked: "Wouldn´t it be better to play this part in a higher key???" you can bet your car on it, that it is.
As friend Peter Johansson here told, she is an international child. She speaks Swedish, Norwegian, English, persian Farsi and Japanese fluently. In school she learned French and German and last year she sang a son in Spanish.
Her music instruments are the guitar and the piano, that she uses for composing her songs (since age 10, she has written 100+ songs)

You're getting tired from all this vocal gymnastics! Angelina Jordan has nothing to prove. When she sometimes belts is it because the fits in the performances. She sings to us only she can!

Thanks for your reaction! She is only 17 years old today and from Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when her full album is released later this year. There's only one EP with 6 songs she's released from RR now, and they haven't started marketing until the full album is released!. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life (17). FIFA song She performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list .... She has over 200 songs on YouTube.

The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a "bare belly plastic artist" who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. She already eats most female vocalists for breakfast, and the label Republic Records and the rest of the music industry know that too!

Great reaction to a vocal tour-de-force! You've done it now. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (170+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Michael Jackson to Etta James to James Brown to Amy Winehouse to the Beatles (and many others in between) and do them all justice!
If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40-piece military band. With her immense vocal toolkit, arranging ability (yeah, that too, since about 8yo or so) and the work ethic to make what she does only 'seem' effortless, she will hopefully be touching hearts for a long time to come.

Her family is not singers. The barefoot princess is pretty much self-taught. The next one you need to listen to cause I put a spell on you. It’s a 1956 Screamin’ Jay Hawkins song. Angelina at nine years old. Did the arrangement herself and knocked it out of the park as she does with all her covers. She’s absolutely an angel sent from Heaven. There’s no other way to describe the barefoot princess.
