Planting Seeds From Store Bought Strawberries! Episode 1

In this video I will be planting strawberry seeds from some store bought strawberries. Instead of trying to scrape the seeds off, I am going to plant thin strips of strawberry skin with the seeds attached. I will be also doing an update on my Alpine Strawberries. Thanks for watching. I like to blend a good batch of scraps and mix in some compost tea. Pour slowly in rows in the woods. wild life and my kids make years of fun out of it. Last year, a doe fell a fawn in our wild patch. The lil one ate as much as it wanted. It's also become a box turtle paradise!

just chuck a load of strawberries in a blender, the seeds sink to the bottom, i blended some strawberries for a smoothie last week and collected loads

i took seeds from storebought frozen strawberries
they only took me 3 days to germinate, because freezing makes it go through the winter cycle and helps germinate MUCH faster

I did this! I ran across this video watching all your watermelon videos. I was about to toss some neglected moldy store-bought strawberries but instead, I put some gloves on and skinned them. I planted the skins, mold and all in early august and this is what they look like now. I actually didn’t know if these were the germinated seeds or just weeds. I had to look up this video again to compare the leaves lol I’m so excited! While these plants may not grow enough to be transplanted since it’s so late in the season(they may even die) at least I know that it works. I can just try again next year. Thanks Christa! the strawberry seeds Will germinate much faster, if you freeze them first. 🍓

This definitely works! What I do is skin the strawberries put them on a napkin and then on a paper plate, let the strawberries dry for 24 hours or until they get crusty, then pick up the napkin and just rub the strawberries that are stuck to it and the little black seeds will fall all over the plate. 👍

Wow I did the same and now I was able to grow 3 plant from lots of seeds but thank God I have runners to care I need more information from you my friend. I am from Philippines. I new to planting this.

That is a smart idea to plant the strawberry pieces. Those seeds are nearly impossible to remove. I've seen people do this with tomatoes, but never strawberries. That sort of out-of-the-box thinking is just what the world needs. You have patience to be able to wait that long.. I would just buy bare roots. Might grow some strawberries if I get my own farm one day. Cheers and have a happy weekend - Lucas

Thanks so much for your video series on these strawberries, I've seen quite a few videos on growing from seed, but nothing that showed a thorough outline of how to or what to expect.. This is helpful as I have several plants I started and but wasn't sure what steps to take.
