STUCK ON A MOUNTAIN IN THE ALBANIAN ALPS | Village of Theth, Albania (winter season)

Freezing to death in the Albanian alps is not how I envisioned on leaving this world! This was one hell of a journey. Not one I would have ever taken if I knew what was ahead of me. If you're thinking of visiting the amazing village of Theth while you're in Albania, MAKE SURE YOU GO IN THE SUMMER! Do not make the same mistake I did lol. Thankfully I survived and had an AMAZING time exploring some of the most beautiful and raw nature that I have ever seen. While Theth is a small isolated village in the Albanian Alps, every visit one takes here is special, unique and wonderful – regardless of the season. The local residents are warm and welcoming – with cute pets and splendid food offerings! The Grunasi Waterfall is beautiful! The Blue Eye spring is also breathtaking. Alina, this is a fantastic place to get stuck in, any time: winter, spring, summer or fall!!!

I visited here in early March 2019, there was also snow, very beautiful place. I love the winter. The bread in Albania, so good.

Theth - why does it remind me of those charming Swiss towns in the Interlaken? View of the Albanian Alps is breathtaking! This is a mountain gem in Europe tourists should make it worth their while to see. Super!

What a beautiful place! With its high mountain peaks, waterfalls and fresh water streams, good food and warm hospitality. We must say to be in "paradise". This region of Albania is a precious gem, which must be preserved like a treasure. Great video

Alina, Happy New Year! Yes, indeed lesson learned always prepare for the worst in the mountains winter weather! You`re Canadian you should know this already! LOL Glad, you made the trip safely excellent driver prepared! Clothes, blankets, food, water, cell charger as examples! FYI one candle lit in a car will heat the interior crack the window slightly for ventilation if the car troubles! Cool adventure thank you for sharing the beautiful views and hiking journeys! Robert Elsie, the famous German - Canadian Albanologist, was buried in Theth 2 years ago.
His last wish was to be buried in these Albanian Alps ( far away from Canada).. That's how much he loved these areas.

DEFINITELY go back in the summer! My husband and I were there in the Summer of 2018. We took a boat from the Skoder area to the Valbona area. We stayed at at hostel/guest house for a couple of days and then hiked the pass over to Theth. It's part of a trail that goes through several countries. It was an amazing hike that I'd recommend! Thanks for your video. It's awesome to see it in snow.

What can I say? I absolutely adore this part of Albania!!! It somehow feels like home to me. Those mountains and valleys, waterfalls and streams, quaint homes and churches - just WOW!!!! Astounding beauty! Alina, you must go back in summer - see that family again. So majestic is this location on earth! I think if I could select a place for another lifetime, it would be here! Would you spend it with me?
On another note: your perseverance, and that of your professional driver, paid off - maybe there’s a good reason he has a cross hanging from the rear-view mirror, LOL! God helps him! In thethi is not blue eye, ,, blue eye is only in saranda, in saranda the water comes from undergrad very deap no one know how deap is. In thethi you don't loese because people are nice, they are amazing. I'm Happy to sea lots of water, ,, in the summer don't have a lots water, don't look beautiful.
