I’ve never heard of faeries in/around the Green Loch. Love these kind of lore stories. Keep them coming! You should go to Tomnahurich Hill, Inverness, next time you’re Highlands way. Supposed to be full of mischievous faeries, that lure you into parties. Dancing and drinking all night. (Nowt too wrong there!) There’s a tale of 2 travelling fiddlers working their way up through towns and villages busking trying to make enough money to cover their lodgings and food per night. They reach Inverness, and notice and old man watching them. They finished the lament they were playing and he asked if they would perform at a lavish party that night, they would be fed and paid. He took them to a weird opening in the hill, where a party could be heard, the fiddlers entered, entertained and enjoyed being a part of the whole night. They were paid by the old man, more than what was promised, and they left, but, when they walked out everything had changed, the buildings were different, there were cars, people dressed differently, they’d basically come out of the hill and entered a couple of centuries later. Frightened, they heard church bells and were relieved to realise it was a Sunday, and could go to church - something they would recognise. However, as soon as they walked in…I can’t tell the whole story or you’ll have nothing to tell!! It’s lore and legend that these faeries, who change and present themselves as human, are still there. There is still a strange opening on the hill. Have a read of the story yourself, just Google ‘Fiddlers and the Tomnahurich Faeries’ for more in depth story. You might find it interesting. Just don’t start busking and if an old man asks you to perform at his lavish party that night, promising room and board, plus a huge feast, in the words of ‘Grange Hill’ - “just say no”!! Hope the snow and freezing temps aren’t hitting you and your’s too bad, weather so weird, snow and -14°C, then 3 days later warmer temps than most of last June 😂. Oh, Happy New Year too, ‘lang may yer lum reek’!
