What a nice surprise to know that Songbird is still active and doing well. I bought a game from them over 20 years ago.

Thanks, John! Appreciate the coverage & enthusiasm for the first new factory-pressed Nuon game in two decades. Very excited to make this available for the fans. :)

I never got a Nuon, although my brother did, and I also knew about it back in the day because I was a big Jaguar fan. It's exciting to see some a dev bringing out a new game and even more surprising that it's pretty darn impressive looking.

My copy just arrived today. Can't wait to give it a try.

Thanks for the shout-out for NUON-Dome, John! As for the game itself, I’ve been reading through the comments and I think some context might help. The fact that anyone developed a new NUON game is a feat in and of itself at this point. Aside from a very incomplete/buggy emulator there is no easy way to debug NUON code without burning discs and testing on the console itself. I’m not a developer but from what I’ve discussed with those who are, it’s a super tedious process without the proper development tools.

I got my copy of Ring Flyer yesterday and while the premise is simple, it is surprisingly compelling after you get through the initial levels. There are different environments as you progress (I’ve made it to the Earth and Moon so far) and it gets tough! Plus the packaging artwork and production are all well-executed.

So kudos to the developer Cubanismo and to Songbird for bringing this to market. I’m stoked to have it in the collection!

Good video! I remember hearing about the NUON but have never seen one! Interesting obscure console!

Haha I never would've heard of Nuon unless you had showed me back at your place years ago. What a weird system to make homebrew for. But $69.99? I'd like to know how many units they sell. Anyway I dig the spirit behind it, even the music reminds me of that weird late 90s era.

It’s amazing to have a homebrew publisher, would keep a keen eye about future releases.

Ring Flyer, maybe on sale but I think it’s just too expensive for what this is.

It's been a long time since I used my Nuon. I had the one model that couldn't play Iron Soldier 3. I also didn't get The Next Tetris, but I had the other 5 commercial games. In 2003 I saw a working copy of Bust-a-Move 4 which had significant slowdown issues.

When I see those rings, I think of Starfox and Superman 64.

There might be 19 people in the world that even have a nuon player!

A collectible that you can play … I get that completely.
And even though this is not for me, I am sure there are some die hard out there that it is and they will be happy to pay the prices and I and happy for them!!

If Cybermorph and Superman 64 had a baby, this is what it would be.

This feels like they had ambition but chose to code something for practice, struggled, got bored and then decided fuck it release it anyway.

I need to get a system so I can stream it.

I have a couple Nuon players and 5 of the games. It was a interesting idea. Too bad it didn't get too far.
