The clear Lake dealerships here in Houston charge you $500 for AIR IN THE TIRES.
OH OH, but you get unlimited refills on AIR.
ITS AIR PEOPLE

Car buying is ridiculous. I don't go to the grocery and negotiate a gallon of milk. It just costs what it costs. You shouldn't have to play games when buying cars. Government regulatea everything else. Time to fix the broken system of car buying.

I had a couple of dealerships try their bullshit add-ons with me. It didn't work for them. My favorite was their "spartan recovery system, " which was basically a knockoff of LoJack. I told them to take it off as it was redundant. If course the salesman was trying hard to push it, even the sales manager pushed it. I brought them to the vehicle, we sat inside, and i had them turn it on. Then, I pressed the OnStar button and brought it up on the infotainment system. They just looked at me, and i said, "Ya'll realize you're a GM/Chevy dealership, right? And OnStar is standard in all of their vehicles".... Yeah, I walked after I made them look stupid. My girlfriend at the time started laughing at them, and I drove away. They thought that because I drove 2.5 hours to see the truck, I would give into their bullshit. WRONG!

We need to change how cars are sold so that consumers can buy vehicles from he manufacturers. Tesla does this so why cant the others? Dealerships are unnecessary middle men who only add to the cost of the vehicle and harm the consumer with bad sales practices

The only thing that matters is the OTD price. Shop all local dealers against their written OTD price and forget about the itemization. You can negotiate to reduce the bottom line but easier just to forget all the names of the buckets and worry about final cost.

Freight makes sense when you order a car but not when you buy one off the lot.

I never look at the fees. I tell the dealer what I will pay out the door for the vehicle and inform them it is their job to make their price sheet come to that price. How they want to code it I do not care as long as the bottom number (with taxes and licensing) matches what I told them I would pay. If they can't do that I walk.

It would be helpful to circle the bogus fees in red so we can take picture of it for future reference.

The most ridiculous charge ive had was a “storage” fee from when I had a custom stereo system put in and they had my truck for 2 days after telling me it would be one day. Apparently they charge customers for parking your vehicle INSIDE the shop overnight. After arguing with the owner and threatening to print a huge picture of the receipt to post on truck for a local truck show he removed the fee. The shop only lasted 1 year in business after the owner was arrested for stealing and swapping parts of customers cars.

I love how Tesla doesn’t have any of these fees. Just the legally obligated registration and tax

I got about $15k off a brand new Ram 2500 almost a year ago when inventory was still tight because of some of the things I learned from your videos!

Our local dealerships (Southern Nevada)charge for dealer add ons like door edge guard, door handle anti scratch appliqué, window tint, for $1200 to $1800. It seems all the dealerships are charging for this and would rather not sell you the car than remove that charge. I spoke with another dealer who had a vehicle en route that hasn’t even reached the dealer, and said it was still a mandatory add on once it arrived. Very frustrating. I’m going to try out of state and see what happens, Phoenix is only a 3.5 hour drive if I can make a deal on-line

I was screwed by Got Gear Motorsports in Ridgeland, Mississippi. I put $3000 down on an $8000 Triumph Trident.
They did not apply 1 penny of my down-payment to my bike. They magically created fifteen hundred dollars (to the penny) worth of dealer fees and fifteen hundred dollars for an extended warranty that I did not want nor ask for. I always try to do right by people and be Christ like as in love your neighbor as your self. So it didn't occur to me that this dealership that I had been buying parts and gear from for years would do something like this. All told I would have payed $13, 000 for a brand new $8, 000 Triumph Trident. It was just charged off by the financing company (bc of financial hardship) and I owed $3, 300 on it. So instead of enjoying the one fun thing in my life that rightfully would've been paid off I'm about to have to surrender it. May God bless you and keep you all brothers and sisters.

I just got a quote on a 2019 GLI, the finance sheet he sent me had a prep fee of $600 and a PPSA fee of $500. I'm going to look at it tomorrow. I've done my research on what to look out for, on what to say, what not to say, when to say what. I will do my absolute best to properly negotiate and if they won't give me the price I want to see I'm walking. There are other listings for the same car in different cities for upwards of $5000 less for the same amount of kilometers.

By the way if you want a better deal and this from a car dealer I know from years ago, if you are not in a rush wait for bad weather rain snow and go then especially if it is not a 4wd, they get desperate and will come down on price. Cars do not sell in bad weather as fast as a nice sunny day. They also have to pay interest on lot cars they try to charge more for them so order what you want and wait the month and you will get probably the options you want and not what you get stuck with.Every option has a high price tag. And sell of give away your trade in because I was offered $500 and sold it 2 days later for 2500.

Forget buying cars in New Jersey New York or Connecticut. My last car I bought in August I went to Pennsylvania and had a far better experience

The only PIPA I have been able to find relates to the Personal Information Protection Act. Are they charging a fee to comply with a government mandate?
