Old mate needs to stay in his ‘bike lane’ 😂, that swimming demonstration/ explanation was 🥴. I get that you’re being polite to the guy but agreeing, but your goal as you’ve said is to be front pack swimmer so you can then benefit from pack cycling - 12m draft zone and multitude of IM motos (all within the rules). Bike fit looks awesome

An over engineered finis agility paddle. Those sticky up bits are waiting to snap
off and break. This is already made cheaply by finis. Also stick to cycling advice. As said above painful watch on the swimming advice. Not sure of his swim coaching prowess but strikes me as complete novice in that department.
