I work at a Toyota dealership in don't buy one yet. Give it a few years for them to get all the kinks out. They've had problems with them already. Not only that, but people are stealing catalytic converters off of them!! You don't want that bill, trust me!

When found out that Toyota was not going to make any more V8 engines, in December of 2020, I bought a 21' 1794 tundra. It was also my retirement gift to myself. I seriously believe my 21' will outlast the 22's, just my opinion... Best of luck

The whole rear window going down is - for me - way better than a sunroof and is one of my favorite features. I live in Florida and there’s nothing like having that down in January in Florida. Glorious.

My mileage gradually improved after 1000 miles. I’m currently getting 19 mpg in suburban travel and 22 on highway trips. I’m at 10, 000 miles and very happy with the purchase. I just took a 1000 mile road trip and I’ve never been more comfortable on a long drive.

Now you know why so many complaints of not having a V8. We never wanted a V6 TT in a truck. Only V6 TT should be in a Tacoma and even then it's an unreliable powerplant. New meaning to the term TRD. (Turd)

My 2008 5.7 just hit 183K miles.
I've changed the brakes and plugs once, the alternator and starter. And a couple sets of tires.
Still runs smooth. Sad they retired the 5.7. It's bulletproof.

Scotty I just picked up a 2000 Tundra with 276k miles for $1500. The timing belt had gone out and was replaced by the owner, but he did it incorrectly.
I aligned the timing marks on the cams and she runs like a dream. I can't imagine spending $65k on a truck at all!

I just bought a 23 Tundra 1794 and love it. Right now I'm getting 19.4 using the Eco mode. I drive 45 miles each way to and from work. A combination of highway driving and FM Roads around 60 mph. I haven't pulled my bass boat yet but expecting the mileage to drop 4 or 5 mpg when I do.

What I hate the most about new Tundra is I don't have one in my garage 😁

It would have been fun to see what the take rate would be if Toyota also offered the option of an updated 5.7 V8 in addition to the two 3.5 turbo options.

So glad I bought the V8 in 2020... Plenty of power and I average 15-16 mpg in mine.

I bought a 2021 Tundra in May of last year. I pulled the trigger due in part to the news that Toyota would be moving to a turbo 6 for 2022. Saw lots of videos from Scotty and others about the reliability of the 5.7 V8. Mileage: on the highway I get 18-20 mpg. In town I can get 12-14. Towing a 3400 lb. travel trailer (like pulling a sail down the road) I get 10-11 mpg with tow/haul on and the transmission in S4 per Toyota recommendations. Used to tow the trailer with a 2004 Chevy Express 1500 hi top van, which is now in retirement (only has to pull my canoe/kayak trailer). The Tundra has no problem climbing the Blue Ridge with the trailer - there seems to be plenty in reserve. I intend to keep this truck for at least 10 years, so I didn’t want to mess with the new tech, since I see Tundras and Sequoias everywhere here in NC and some of them are really old.

Agree Scotty . Not crazy about no V8 in the new Tundra . Not a fan of twin turbos . I've got a 2002 Tundra . Runs fantastic . I'm 64 yrs old and hoping this will be my last vehicle ever for me. Time will tell . Thx . Keep up the great work. I learn a lot from your experiences .

I average 15 mpg in my 2018 Tundra. My secret? Factory tires and no lift. 👍

The gas mileage tends to get better once out of the break-in period. This one is just under 600 miles on the clock. Once it hits about 2k+ miles you should see an improvement to upwards of 18 average. Still not 21, but still better. That said, I still wish there was a V8 option.

Scotty you’re right about the city dealers . I just bought a honda navi in Conroe for 2664$ otd. No dealer in Houston would sell one for under 3k.

As die hard Toyota guy who drove the old 2x4 pick ups, tacos and now a 19 tundra I can’t believe how bad they missed the mark on these new tundras. I test drove one and was so disappointed

If given the choice, I would still prefer the V8 if available. I'll bet the difference in gas mileage with the V6 narrows when pulling a load.

When you pay this amount of money for a truck why not do what Ford does? Give the customer the option of buying either the twin turbo or the V8. Why not make both?
