As filmmakers, it’s inevitable that we will make mistakes and then we learn from them, but we’re giving you an opportunity to learn from OUR mistakes and get the dish on common filmmaking mistakes straight from us. Many of these mistakes are geared towards beginners, but you can learn from any level. Filmmaking is a process: there’s a lot going on! It can take days, months, or years from pre-production, to production, then afterwards post-production to finish a project, from a simple video like this or a film, leaving room for many mistakes to be made.

On one of my short films we shot on a roof top beach bar at night. There was an air conditioning system, coming from one of the stores in the building. It was a rotating pipe, changing direction constantly. We couldn't reach anyone from the store and had to dub the whole sequence in the studio later.

#8 - Never hire extras from the “casual encounters” section of Craigslist. They always end up knocking around the old boom pole.
