This is a different Au where Giyuu is a demon. Well, it's not Giyuu itself, it's a demon in disguise. That means Rengoku knows that this isn't Giyuu and that he is in danger.

I must say, the demon is smart for picking Tomioka, the one who no one really hangs with or is familiar with. If Renkoku didn't pay too much attention, the demon would probably have gotten away with it.

The demon chose the right hashira because he doesn't talks to much and doesn't hang out with anyone. So no one from the hashira can't see the difference at his acts. If Rengoku didn't saw that his pupils changed no one would've guess that it's not Giyuu. Expect Tanjiro ig because of his smell power and he's like one of the closest to Giyuu because he talks to him often than anyone.

I literally have to rewatch this 9 times just to understand what's happening. If you go back to when Giyu Blinks in the 1st time, his pupils actually change slightly. Took me forever to notice lol.

His pupils are shaped like a diamond or sharp like a cats so when rengoku looked at giyuu (the demon disguised as him) he saw and knew that was not giyuu and giyuu is in danger
