Fun fact; when I worked at dollar tree, the items that go at the front are typically shipped in boxes marked “impulse”

Oooorrrr, you make a shopping list which you always complete in the same order. For example, when I go to my local supermarket, I always start my shopping from dairy products which is at the far side of the store. Then I systematically make my way through my list and try to avoid any distractions. Quick, clean and barely never end up with items I didn't have on the list. I only pick up off list items if they're on sale or if I happen to crave a snack. I play 4D chess and am 5 parallel universes ahead of them!

In a store near me, they usually put perishable products close to expiry on sale. That is, when the product is 3-6 months away from expire, they slash the price. It's always the best time for my to buy a different kind of biscuit and they become my new favourite until the slen ends and something else begins. Cycle of my biscuit life for the past 3 years.
