For those with body dysmorphia or dysphoria that have a hard time recording yourself, Wear baggy clothes and maybe even a mask (we all should have one cause of the panaroni) also remember you don’t have to show your practice to anyone (although showing to other dancers can help you get feedback)

The worst part of learning a stray kids dance is when you spend an hour to learn 15 seconds and realize you look horrible.

edit: to all of y'all telling me to start with something easier, I am a dancer, I know.

I’ve been dancing for 1 year and when I record myself, I lose all motivation to dance because I look so bad. Everyone else I’ve seen on yt has made big improvements in 1 year

Let's just take a moment to appreciate the fact how good her explaining skills are with such a polite tone. This is the first time I've watched her video and she seems so positive and kind. Let's support her in all the ways we as an followers could.

So I’ve been dancing for like almost 8 years now, and I do want to add some tips that might be helpful~

1. Make sure to stretch before you dance otherwise you may pull a muscle or hurt yourself (not fun)
2. Be confident and don’t be really stiff with the moves (basically keep your arms and legs strong but dont keep them so stiff it looks like your movement isnt a flow) - i hope that made sense
3. Learn the choreography a few steps at a time then go back and practice it at your preferred speed, then keep adding on more steps and practicing. When you feel comfortable with that speed and you’re confident you know the moves, you can try the normal speed (or a speed faster than the one you practiced with)
4. You don’t have to use counts, you can relate some parts of the choreo to lyrics and then when you hear the lyrics you know the moves.
5. For picking a song you want to learn: Pick one you really like or listen to a lot. When you really like the song, it shows in your expressions and dance, and it looks a lot better overall.
6. CONSISTENCY is KEY! Don’t just practice it once and expect to do it exactly like the mv a week later 💀 thats not how dance works. Try to practice a few times a week, its easier to remember choreography if you practice that often.
7. If you can’t understand a certain move, PLEASE don’t take the easy way and improvise. Go back and actually try to find out what the correct way is. It will look much more cleaner and not as sloppy.
8. ACCENTUATE the moves. To you, it might feel like you are moving a lot, but to someone viewing your dance, it might not look like that, so in order to make it look as clean as possible, accentuate each move (make it look big)

I hope this helps !!
Btw~
I might add more tips later on if I feel like there’s more to include, but this is basically all!
I can explain anything in more detail if needed
Have fun dancing <3

I've been self teaching myself kpop dances since 2018 and here are some tips from me as well :)!!!
(I have improved a lot so I think I'll be somehow helpful)
1. Consistency is the key.
2. Pay A LOT of attention to your facials and lip syncing. You can try to play kpop random dances and mostly focus on your face and not dancing. You'll look a lot more confident and attractive.
3. Try to learn how to control your body energy. If you dance to both ggs and bg, like me, you'll have to deal with the issue that your energy will have to change. Bgs usually use a lot of aggressiveness and stamina so you'll have to get tired in order to look decent. Meanwhile, ggs usually use softer and smoother moves so you'll have to work on your body control mostly.
4. Take your time. I personally need almost a month to learn a whole choreo correctly. It's not a shame being a slow learner. Just make sure that you've learnt it decently no matter how much time it took you.
5. If you see that your brain can't focus or can't get it together, dance to other choreos you know and have fun. You'll see that you'll be able to concentrate better after.
I hope I helped! Thank you for the video ❤️

This is my first day of TRYING to learn KPOP choreography and I'm currently trying to do FEVER by ENHYPEN, more specifically NI-KI's part (ik im quite ambitious for a beginner) but they were the ones who motivated me to run for my long forgotten dreams and I'm Ni-Ki biased plus this video gave me more motivation and has helped me start off right, so THANK YOU FOR THIS

I'm 12 yo, I have started listening to kpop since 2019 and tried practicing dances. I am really happy to know the full dance of mafia in the morning by Itzy. This makes me realise that I have progressed through the years. Now I am learning Not shy and How you like that
