How do we value invisible things? | Leyla Acaroglu | TEDxULisboa

The core principals of the economic system practiced in the world have not changed in several years. Our economy is designed to extract raw materials from nature, process them into goods and discard them. This linear system of exploration and exploitation, which rigs our society to buy into the future, is far from sustainable and results in negative environmental impacts.
Through a series of anecdotes and conceptual reviews, award-winning sustainability designer and entrepreneur Dr. Leyla Acaroglu challenges the audience to think differently about global economics, from how we value things to how we perceive and evaluate growth — and explains how anyone can contribute to a future that works better than today.

Excellent talk on redesigning the economic system to make it work for people and the planet and not profits for industry.

i discovered leyla through her interview in laura storms podcast: cracks of light.
i can recommend that.

however i don't like your focus on individual consumer choices.
From my perspective the most important thing is to join a climate+justice movement.
get organized and push for change together!
