It's great to see some people here that appreciate Blur for a lot more than their hit singles.
Blur are not just a great Britpop band.
They're a great very special and important band in British popular music history. Artistically outstanding.
I was born in London 1960 therefore I grew up listening to the best of British.
The Beatles, Kinks, The Move, Small Faces, TRex, Roxy Music etc etc.
I was nearly 30 and living in Amsterdam when I heard Blur for the first time.
There's No Other Way was being played alot on MTV Europe and I absolutely loved them from the off.
Modern Life Is Rubbish Is high on my favourite all time albums.
I used to walk past the famous graffiti almost every day in the 1980s that gave the album it's name. There by Marble Arch on the Bayswater Rd W2.
I lived in Ladbroke Grove not far from there and funnily enough. Blur reference a lot of places that were in or around where I've lived. Blur make me feel culturally comfortable if you know what I mean.
